Tampopo’s New Sunday Brunch Serves Japanese Home-Style Plates From $6.80

Family meals are often more enjoyable when everyone can order a few dishes and share them around the table.

Tampopo at Takashimaya Shopping Centre is leaning into that experience with its new Sunday Family Brunch, featuring 22 Japanese home-style sharing plates as part of the restaurant’s 22nd-anniversary celebrations in Singapore.

Available every Sunday from 11am to 4pm, the menu brings together comforting dishes inspired by different parts of Japan, with prices starting from $6.80.

Diners can also continue ordering Tampopo favourites such as ramen and tonkatsu from the restaurant’s regular menu.

Japanese Sharing Plates Inspired By Regional Comfort Food

The Sunday brunch menu covers everything from light appetisers and seafood to grilled meat, sushi and familiar Japanese comfort food.

One of the most affordable options is Konnyaku Pirikara ($6.80), a chewy konnyaku appetiser simmered with soy sauce, dried chilli and shichimi togarashi.

The savoury side has a gentle spicy kick and may suit diners looking for something lighter to begin the meal with.

For a heartier dish, the Pork Nikujaga ($7.80) features premium kurobuta pork cooked with potatoes and vegetables in a traditional broth.

While beef is commonly used in Kansai-style versions of nikujaga, Tampopo’s Tokyo-inspired rendition uses pork, which is traditionally associated with the Kanto region.

Sake-Marinated Teriyaki Chicken And Salmon Ochazuke

Another new addition is the Sake Brewer’s Chicken Teriyaki ($9.80).

Chicken thigh is marinated with Daiginjo sake lees from a Japanese brewery before being grilled with a sweet teriyaki glaze. An additional serving of sake lees is placed on the side for diners who prefer a stronger umami flavour.

Those craving something warm and soothing can try the Tampopo Salmon Ochazuke ($9.80).

Hot dashi is poured over rice and sashimi-grade salmon, gently cooking the fish while creating a light, savoury broth. It is a simple option that may be especially comforting on a rainy Sunday afternoon.

Kurobuta Pork With Japanese Black Vinegar

The Kurozu Ankake Kurobuta ($12.80) pairs crispy kurobuta pork with vegetables and a Japanese black vinegar sauce.

Its combination of sweet, savoury and tangy flavours may feel familiar to fans of sweet-and-sour pork, although the kurozu gives the dish a deeper, maltier finish.

For another indulgent meat option, order the Wagyu Beef Yakiniku ($15.80).

Kagoshima Wagyu beef brisket is grilled in Tampopo’s sweet soy sauce and served sizzling on a small teppan plate. The flavours take inspiration from the sweet and savoury profile of Kansai-style sukiyaki.

Toyama-Style Pressed Salmon Sushi

Sushi lovers can look forward to the Toyama Style Salmon Oshi Sushi ($15.80).

Inspired by Toyama Prefecture’s regional Masu-zushi, Tampopo’s version uses two layers of sashimi-grade salmon, seasoned sushi rice and fresh yuzu. The pressed sushi is wrapped in aromatic bamboo leaves before serving.

There is also an Assorted Sushi Roll ($18.80 for eight pieces) containing salmon, maguro, aburi tai and salmon belly.

Karaage, Chawan Mushi And Other Familiar Sides

Families can add several smaller dishes to complete the table.

Available items include:

Chicken Kara Age — $7.80
Ebi Fry — $8.80
Potato Salad — $6.80
Chawan Mushi — $5.80
Mini Soba or Udon — $6.80
Barley Onigiri — $2 per piece

The smaller portions make it easier for groups to sample several dishes without having to commit to a full-sized main each.

Handmade Cakes, Pudding And Snow-Aged Coffee

Dessert is supplied by Tampopo Group’s Dulcet & Studio, with selections handmade daily by its in-house pastry team.

Diners can choose from Matcha, Houji Cha or Pandan Roll Cakes at $4.80 each, as well as Custard Pudding ($4.80) and Strawberry Short Cake ($7.80).

Coffee drinkers can also order Snow Aged Coffee from Niigata for $6, described as having more concentrated flavour notes.
