Tipo Pasta Bar on Aliwal Street in Singapore is known for its focus on artisanal, handmade pasta, offering a unique and customizable dining experience for its customers. Crafted in-house daily, they offer a variety of pasta shapes and flavours on a rotational basis infused with ingredients like saffron, seaweed and truffle to name a few.
Their pasta is freshly made and quite affordable. Head down between 11am to 4pm for their set lunches, with options like the Slurp Hard Set ($13.90), Slurp Harder Set ($17.90), and Slurp Hardest Set ($24.90). Each set allows you to choose different mains, drinks and/or an extra side for your meal.
When in doubt, you can never go wrong with a Classy Carbonara ($19.90) that comes with smoked duck in creamy sauce made from egg yolks and grana padano, topped with a sous vide egg.
For those who like an oil based pasta, the Aglio Alright ($19.90) is served with tiger prawns with extra virgin olive oil, garlic confit, sous vide egg and shaved grana padano. We highly recommend to add on chilli flakes for that extra kick if you can take spice.
If you prefer to customize your pasta, the Build Your Own Pasta option allows you to personalise your meal, which is great for picky eaters. The base pasta is priced at $9.90, with additional charges for different toppings.
I tried their aglio olio with chili flakes, sous vide egg, and smoked chicken, and it did not disappoint. It was slightly spicy, and the sauce was incredibly addictive.
If you have space for more bites, get the Truffle Tramezzini ($16) from their menu. It was enjoyable with beef bacon, mozzarella, and truffle mayonnaise, but the bread was a tad too thick for my liking.
Complete your meal with their House Craft Sodas ($7.90) with options like Strawberry Basil, Peach Vanilla, Berry Lime and Watermelon or pair it with a cup of coffee or tea when you visit.
