Little Island Brewing Co. introduces Singapore’s inaugural vintage vinyl bar nestled within the historic confines of Gillman Barracks. Stepping into this unique establishment transports patrons to a bygone era with its retro ambiance, accentuated by classic Altec Lansing A5-X speakers from the 1950s, setting the stage for a nostalgic journey accompanied by the crackle of vinyl records.
Every Wednesday, the venue hosts “Waxy Wednesdays,” a cherished event where guests can groove to retro tunes from the 70s and 80s.
This is amplified by the timeless sound of the Altec Lansing A5-X speakers, affectionately known as the “voice of the theatre,” evoking an authentic vintage vibe.
Every Friday and Saturday, there are live band performances, providing an immersive auditory experience against a backdrop of retro-inspired insta worthy corners adorned with vintage telephones and memorabilia, perfect for capturing memories.
Families are warmly welcomed, with provisions for the little ones including mini Vespa scooter rides and an outdoor playground reminiscent of yesteryears.
Indoors, a bouncy castle adds to the whimsical atmosphere, ensuring that children are thoroughly entertained while parents unwind.
The culinary offerings continue the theme of nostalgia, with Vinyl Charcoal Pizzas resembling vintage records. Each pizza has whimsical names inspired by iconic hits, such as “Pineapple the Sailor Ham” and “Play that Fungi Muzik”.
Diners can also savour local delights like Nasi Kerabu with Rendang where they used blue pea flower-tinted coconut rice with slow-braised spicy beef neck, as well as Slow Roasted Pork Belly, showcasing innovative twists on traditional favourites.
Complementing the menu are delectable snacks such as Khmer Peanuts and Dukkah Cauliflower, while dessert enthusiasts can indulge in Sticky Date Pudding paired with vanilla ice cream. For drinks, Little Island Brewing Co. boasts its own finely crafted brews, ensuring that every sip is a delight.
To sweeten the deal, throughout April 2024, guests can enjoy 1-for-1 deals on vinyl charcoal pizzas every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 5pm onwards.
Plus, families that spend $50 on a single receipt can treat their little ones to a complimentary 5-minute ride on the mini Vespa scooter, adding an extra layer of joy to the experience.
