Originating from Latin America, Mexico, Guatemala, and Honduras, Las Posadas spans nine days from 16 to 24 December, symbolizing the nine-month pregnancy of Mary, the mother of Jesus Christ.
The term “Posadas” is derived from the Spanish word meaning ‘lodging’ or ‘accommodation,’ referencing the inn in the Nativity story of Jesus’ birth.
Experience the vibrant flavours of a traditional Las Posadas celebration with a specially curated feast of Latin American flavors at Canchita as you indulge in five specialty dishes available throughout December:
- Cocktail Rosado ($44) – A lively shellfish cocktail elevated with lobster meat and prawns marinated in creamy tomato tiger’s milk. Topped with pico de gallo, it delivers the perfect blend of sweet, sour, and spicy, finished with a punch of habanero oil.
- Ajiaco Colombiano ($34) – A heartwarming traditional chicken soup enriched with potatoes and corn, buttered with avocado, and flavoured with capers and Guascas, a Colombian dried spice.
- Beef Mofongo de Puerto Rico ($42) – Experience the festive flavours of Puerto Rico with fried plantain stuffed with Picanha rump beef, generously coated in Mojo Blanco dressing made with garlic, vinegar, lime, and parsley.
