At just a 5-min walk away from Queenstown MRT, Margaret Market is the first-of-its-kind indoor conservation market with home-grown local brands and health facilities for the young and the elderly. Anticipate and get excited for food that can only currently be found here! Here’s what you can find at this aesthetically pleasing 2-floor market:
1. Margie
Be spoiled for choice by Margie, a local bar serving favourites of local craft beers, orange wine, and Singaporean spin-offs on tacos ($8.90), rice bowls, nachos and more from sunset till night time. Imagine spruced up Ramly burgers, sambal stingray, salted egg tiger prawn tobiko tacos and more.

2. 口口香鸡饭汤 (Kou Kou Xiang Ji Tang Fan)
If you enjoy lighter flavours or herbal tastes, Kou Kou Xiang Ji Tang Fan is the place for you. As the first of its kind that opened in Singapore, their dishes (from $8.80) are sprawled with mushrooms from Chengdu, China that have antioxidants and medicinal properties good for digestion and more. Eat it with rice, noodles or vermicelli, they are sure to be a hit with elders or those keeping track of their health.

3. Urban Folks
Urban Folks is a cosy Aussie-style café that has coffee (from $4), açaí bowls ($9.50 – $13.50), sandwiches, and jaffles (from $7) which are commonly known in Australia as a toasted sandwich. They offer choices such as the Eggsquisite ($9.80) that has Asian chilli eggs, chicken spam and cheese in a toast, or try the Hammin’ Cheese ($12.50) for a croissant-which with chicken ham and relish.

4. Wawa Lala Bee Hoon
Wawa Lala Bee Hoon offers clam-centric cuisine that exclaims the versatility that clam can have, serving clam broth with rich depth and flavour. If you enjoy lots of meaty cockles (hum), it truly is value-for-money for the amount and freshness, straight out from a tank. Do check out the fan favourite Authentic Clam Noodles with Chinese Wine ($8.90)!

5. Emart24
The popular Korean Convenience Store EMart24 now has opened a third shop at Margaret Market. Expect ready-to-eat meals, drinks and Korean street food to light up your Seoul (Soul). We recommend the Korean Honey Soy Dak Gang Jung ($16.90). Find out more about what they offer in our previous post.

6. The Homme Baker
Most will recognise The Homme Baker as an online-based business that started out during the Covid years. After popular demand, winning many Singaporeans hearts and stomachs with their best-selling T&J (Inspired by the Tom and Jerry cartoon) chocolate shell cakes shaped as Swiss cheese blocks, it has now opened its first store at Margaret Market.
They serve all six flavours from the T&J series: Ondeh, cheesecake original, dark chocolate banoffee, strawberry shortcake, raspberry panna cotta and yuzu ($8.80 onwards a piece) while the Mandarin Orange Cake is $7.80. Some people have commented that the Mandarin Orange cake is more value-for-money since it is bigger at a lower price, but we’ll let you be the judge of that!

7. Bowen’s Cafe
If you’re looking for delicious Italian food that won’t break the bank, Bowen’s Café won’t disappoint. The menu consists of pastas like spaghetti and risotto, whilst there are also main courses like grilled meat and fish. Do check out their Chicken Chop ($11.90) and Pork Chop ($11.90) that are served with mesclun salad and straight cut fries.

8. GymmBoxx
Located on the 2nd floor of Margaret Market, there is a 24-hour gym for patrons to work out with the provided free weights and treadmills. You could also sign up with a personal trainer for more personalised tips and exercises. And, not to worry, there are showers and lockers provided.
9. The Conservatory
Also located on the 2nd floor, The Conservatory offers a myriad of indoor plants and trees at “wet market” prices, complete with the full after-sales services of repotting from as low as $10 per pot. A worthy place to check out for plant enthusiasts to buy unique plants, pots and potting mediums to properly care for your plants when you visit.
Look forward to plant-potting classes for children for a fun and educational learning session plus plant care subscription services in your homes or offices every quarter of the year for fresh plants in your spaces all year round!
10. Fung Onn Medical Store
Formerly located at Tanglin Halt, Fung Onn Medical Store is the place to visit if you are feeling under the weather. For over 50 years, it has been providing customers with Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) products and services, as well as a variety of Eastern and Western proprietary medication and healthcare products since it opened its doors in 1964.

Final Verdict
Overall, if you find yourself in the west, we highly encourage you to step foot into Margaret Market and soak in the atmosphere. Whilst no longer the former Commonwealth Avenue Wet Market that residents were used to, Margaret Market brings concepts together and serves as a vibrant destination and a place where there really is something for everyone, young and old.
