Exclusively available till early-November 2022, experience for yourself a sumptuous spread of quality Japanese fare in a casual and trendy setting, or a relaxed and cosy afternoon of sweet temptations with your favourite cuppa.

A returning favourite, the SUN Style Goma Salmon / Hamachi ($16.80++/$18.80++) sees fresh slices of salmon or yellowtail sashimi topped with sesame seeds and served with SUN’s style Kyushu sweet soya sauce, soft-boiled egg, and spring onions. Mix the sauce and egg together thoroughly to enjoy the sashimi with the special sauce!

For warm food that comforts the soul, enjoy the chewy and flavourful large beef intestines of the Hakata-style Mentai Motsu Nabe ($22.80) together with umami salted cod roe, fresh cabbage and garlic chives in flying fish broth or the Fukuoka-style Motsu Itame ($12.80++),  a Japanese stir-fry of Fukuoka-style savoury and rich beef large intestines with vegetables.

Another signature here is the Okinawa Shima Tako & Aburi Mentai Kamameshi ($23.80++) which is a satisfying Japanese mixed rice dish topped with sliced Okinawa Island Octopus and seared spicy cod roe.

From left to right: Saga-style Ika Shumai; Kagoshima-style Buta Kakuni. Photo by SUN with MOON.

For side dishes that you can add on to your meals, try the unique Saga-style Ika Shumai ($12.80++) made using squid, onions, eggs and sea salt and topped with pops of salmon roe for robust flavours or the Kagoshima-style Buta Kakuni ($16.80++) that literally melts-in-the-mouth! These hearty chunks of tender pork are served alongside a ramen egg which is best enjoyed with a steaming bowl of Japanese rice.

From top left (clockwise): Nagasaki-style Hatoshi; Oita-style Tori Ten; Miyazaki-style Chicken Nanban; Kumamoto-style Karashi Renkon. Photo by SUN with MOON.

If you love Japanese shrimp toast, the Nagasaki-style Hatoshi ($10.80++) is a crisp deep-fried bread sandwiching a centre of shrimp and fish paste that is juicy and delicious while chicken lovers can savour the bite-sized chunks of Oita-style Tori Ten ($11.80++) that is served with a zesty ponzu citrus dip.

If you prefer tartar sauce, the Miyazaki-style Chicken Nanban ($11.80++) makes for the perfect meal or snack for kids and adults alike or opt for the Kumamoto-style Karashi Renkon ($9.80++) for a vegetable option of lotus roots stuffed with spicy mustard paste that is piquant and crunchy.

From left to right: Murasaki-Imo Gelato Ogura Shiratama Monaka; Sata Andagi & Vanilla Ice Cream. Photo by SUN with MOON.

A sweet ending to a flavour-filled feast of Kyushu & Okinawa specialties, enjoy sweet and earthy purple sweet potato gelato from South Kyushu with the Murasaki-Imo Gelato Ogura Shiratama Monaka ($7.80++) that is filled with red bean and chewy rice flour dumplings encased in a crisp monaka wafer.

For those who prefer something simpler, the Sata Andagi & Vanilla Ice Cream ($6.80++) dish is a Okinawa-style deep-fried doughnuts served with creamy vanilla ice cream. These doughnuts are also considered good luck in Okinawa because when deep-fried, the round balls crack with lines that resemble smiley faces!
