A nod to tradition, Soup Restaurant NEX has also brought back its heritage 三盅两件 (literally “three cups, two pieces”) individual meal for the first time in 33 years.
This wholesome set includes steamed rice, a pot of boiled soup, and a dessert, along with two sides such as vegetables or small dishes.
Fans of the brand will be thrilled to see the return of the beloved Collagen Soup with Fish Maw ($15.90/pax), a rich and nourishing broth made from fish and chicken served with fish maw and naibai (milk cabbage) for a perfectly balanced flavour.
Another standout dish is the Earthen Bowl Ribs ($12.50/3pcs), featuring tender, fall-off-the-bone meat that is braised and steamed to perfection. This hearty dish combines a sweet, smoky flavour with a succulent texture.
Adding a nostalgic note is Ah Ma Fried Diced Vegetable ($13.90) that combines diced long beans, fish cake, sweet radish, beancurd, roasted pork and char siew for a medley of sweet and savory flavours that cater to both the young and old.
Seafood lovers shouldn’t miss the Chinatown Garlic Steamed Half Shell Scallop with Vermicelli ($18) or try the Half Steamed Half Fried Little Pomfret ($21.90) that offers a unique dual preparation: one side is steamed, while the other is fried, showcasing the technical expertise required to maintain its delicate texture and clean flavour.
