Shan Cheng, beloved by the local community for its authentic Ipoh flavors, is excited to introduce a new menu featuring the famed Helicopter Nasi Kandar, along with an exclusive collaboration with Ipoh’s historic Guan Heong biscuit shop, renowned for its 106 years of heritage.

The Helicopter Nasi Kandar ($10.80) has been a cherished comfort food among Ipoh locals, affectionately known as “Nasi Ganja” (“Weed Rice”), a nod to its irresistibly addictive quality. This dish gained international attention during the COVID-19 pandemic when a Kuala Lumpur tycoon went to great lengths to enjoy it, earning the nickname “Helicopter Rice” among locals and tourists alike.

This iconic meal offers a hearty serving of fragrant rice topped with tender chicken and drizzled in a rich, aromatic curry, featuring a blend of flavours from ikan (fish), ayam (chicken), and the traditional Malay masak merah (red curry). This fusion of fluffy rice, flavourful curry and succulent chicken promises diners an unforgettable experience.

Founded in 1918, Guan Heong is Ipoh’s oldest biscuit shop, celebrated for its quality and longstanding tradition. Through a special collaboration with Shan Cheng, the two establishments unite to share Ipoh’s iconic flavours with Singaporean diners.

Five of Guan Heong’s best-selling pastries will be available at Shan Cheng outlets, including Meat Floss with Lotus Paste Biscuit ($13.80/9pcs), Traditional Salted Tau Sar Pheah ($3.90/5pcs), Phoenix Egg Roll with Seaweed and Meat Floss ($8.80), Low Sugared Sachima ($5.80) and Heong Peah ($6.80).

Shredded Chicken Ipoh Hor Fun

In honor of their recent achievement in the Singapore Book of Records for the largest quantity of Ipoh Hor Fun sold, Shan Cheng will offer a Buy 1 Get 1 Free promotion on their Signature Authentic Shredded Chicken Ipoh Hor Fun from 14 to 17 November 2024, at all outlets.

Furthermore from 18 November to 31 December 2024, diners ordering two Signature mains—either the Helicopter Nasi Kandar ($10.80) or Signature Authentic Shredded Chicken Ipoh Hor Fun ($10.80)—will receive a complimentary platter of Ipoh Five Treasures (valued at $9) at all Shan Cheng outlets (Bukit Panjang Plaza, AMK Hub, Compass One, Midview City).
