Let’s come together and help these animals through these animal welfares and charities as they deserve care and love too!
Animals have a special place in my heart. Firstly, they are extremely adorable and second, they make a great companion. Rabbits, hamsters, dogs, you name it. I love them all!
I own two cute little cats, found them roaming near my area. Then I thought to myself, these animals deserve all the love and care in the world. Not just the ones I own, but I am speaking for all our furry friends out there. Here in Singapore, there are several animal welfares and charities where we can lend our helping hand.
Let us all come together and provide a better place for these animals, be it a better outdoor environment, or finding their forever home. Here are some animal welfares and charities where you can volunteer and lend a helping hand for our little friends!
Cat Welfare Society (CWS)
Established in 1999 by a group of friends, the Cat Welfare Society has played a huge role in ensuring that our community cats are living in a good environment. They are set to minimise the number of culled cats, aiming to put a stop to it entirely.
Focusing of four main areas – sterilisation, mediation, advocacy and education, The Cat Welfare Society has been able to reduce the overall population of cats overtime and this has allowed all the remaining cats to have more resources for food and medical care.
Here Is How You Can Help!
You can donate to the Cat Welfare Society. The money gathered and support from the government has covered about 30% to 40% of sterilisations. Donations can be made via several ways.
Apart from donating, you can also volunteer for several roles in the Cat Welfare Society. Such roles include: Community caregivers/mediators, management roles, administrative coordinators and student and other group volunteers.
Each of these roles play important roles in the welfare society to help ensure that our community cats are well taken care of.
For those who are willing to adopt cats, this is your chance. However, do ensure that you are aware of the responsibility of adopting cats. It takes commitment and lots or love and care.
Save Our Street Dogs (SOSD)
Apart from cats, dogs also deserve all the love and care in the world! Save Our Street Dogs (SOSD) is a volunteer-run organisation dedicated to improving the lives of Singapore street dogs. Their dog shelter aims to save, provide rehabilitation, and rehome stray dogs, giving them another chance in life.
Love our canine friends? There are so many ways you can help them. From donating to fostering, let’s give our little friends a better life here in Singapore.
Foster or Adopt
Always wanted to own cute little dogs? At SOSD, you can foster or adopt these canine cuties! Similar to cats, adopting or fostering dogs is a huge responsibility. You must be willing to take good care of them, provide love and care, and most importantly, give them a life they deserve.
SOSD provides a list of all the rescue dogs that are available for adoption. Fostering on another hand, allows one to be a foster parent for dogs for a period of time before they are adopted into their forever homes. There are several criteria to consider before fostering, and when you are ready, you can be a foster parent to these canine pups.
Donations And Sponsorship
There are other ways to show you care for these adorable friends. Donation is one of the ways. You can donate money, items, or both. SOSD also has a wish list of items that they need to keep the shelter up and running.
Furthermore, you can also sponsor one of their pups. This would cover their expenses until they find their forever homes.
Volunteer
Lastly, you can volunteer at SOSD in several roles. These roles are crucial in ensuring that our dogs are safe and living in good conditions. From caregivers to marketing roles, SOSD is a place for us to show our love and care for dogs.
House Rabbit Society Singapore (HRSS)
Let’s not forget our dear rabbit friends! The House Rabbit Society Singapore (HRSS) is a volunteer-based organisation, dedicated to rabbit welfare and awareness. They aim to reduce the number of unwanted rabbits and improve the lives of rabbits through education.
Donations
HRSS is also a beneficiary of Helping Paws. It is an initiative that supports animal shelters. You can purchase and donate food to these rescued rabbits. Not only that, but you can also benefit as well as these products are at 50% of their retail prices.
Adoptions
HRSS offers a list of cute rabbits available for adoption on their Facebook Page. These rabbits, similar to cats and dogs are also looking for forever homes. Lend a helping hand at providing these cute rabbits a better place and a second chance in life.
Let us all come together and provide a better place for our little friends out there. We can do our part by providing them better lives. Share this with your friends and family and lend a helping hand now at these animal welfares and charities now!
