Work and school can be tiring sometimes. We wake up early, get ready, head out, complete tasks and get home. By the time, it is almost evening, and it goes on for the next few days. The only time you get some rest is during the weekends. Well for me, the weekends are meant for family. I have always wanted a personal home spa day for myself, however, do not have the time to.
This was definitely before the heightened Phase 2 regulations were announced. Now that we are all encouraged to stay home and working from home and home-based learning is made default, I am hoping that I can finally have some me-time and maybe treat myself with a home spa.
There are so many things you can prepare for a personal home spa. Let’s look at some cheap items you can purchase to get started!
Facial Mist Device
Facial mists are beneficial in so many ways. They are widely available in beauty stores like Sephora. However, they can be very costly, ranging from $12 to $50. Some facial mists are made with ingredients you might not have heard of. Since they are mostly made of water thus, it is pretty easy to make your own.
All you have to do is purchase a facial mist spray and fill it up with water and add a few drops of your favourite essential oil (tea tree, lavender, rose). These devices can be found in several stores such as Miniso, or online shopping platforms such as Shopee and Ezbuy.
Facial Mask
I am a sucker for facial masks. I have tried several face masks and I am currently hooked on Caudalie Purifying Mask and Instant Detox Mask. These are effective but rather costly. There are so many other facial masks that are affordable available. I highly recommend The Ordinary products. They are pretty affordable.
If you really want to get creative with your products, try DIY facial masks instead. I have tried the turmeric face mask
to help with acne. I have to say it was pretty effective. There are other DIY masks that you can try to help with your skin such as brightening, ageing, and more.
Body Scrubs
Body scrubs are extremely effective in making sure that you have soft, luscious skin. I am currently using body scrubs from Bath and Body Works and I love them, but they are so expensive. You can get cheaper alternatives such as Frank Body Original Coffee Scrub, costing about $15 at Sephora.
Apart from getting your own, you can make your own sugar body scrub at home! Imply combine sugar, honey and your favourite body wash and there you have it. Not only is it cheap, but you can also make as much of it as you want! Just remember to store in an airtight container or bottle.
Hair Mask
I am always a little too particular about how my hair looks. Different hairstyles make me look different. I actually have yet to get my hands on hair masks but will definitely try them out soon. Probably the only hair mask I have seen all over social media is the Coco and Eve Like a Virgin Hair Masque.
I have seen them at Sephora and similar to the other products, they cost quite a buck. However, I came across a DIY hair mask recipe and people on TikTok are getting impressive results. It is made of an egg, coconut oil, lemon juice and olive oil. I have been contemplating to try this and I might just do it someday.
I am pretty excited to try these things out because I have longed for a personal home spa. Given the time, I will definitely get the things I need, switch my phone to airplane mode and just have the day to myself very soon! Try these items and DIY recipes and you too can have a relaxing day at your very own home spa!
