We all know how amazing animals are in our life. Without the help of animals, we would probably not have reached the growth and advancement we have now. So, let’s take the time to appreciate some of these animals who broke the Guinness World Records.
1) Bertie the Fastest Tortoise
The quickest turtle is probably still pretty slow for the average human, but what about when compared to other tortoises? This is where Bertie, the fastest Tortoise comes into play. Bertie sped across a 5.4-meter course in only 19.59 seconds! The previous tortoise speed record was 43.7 seconds in 1977, according to the Guinness Book of Records. Bertie set a new world record in 2014 and is now living in luxury and peace.
2) Bombel the Miniature Horse
Although he is smaller than a greyhound, Bombel, the miniature horse is believed to have a big personality and heart. He is the stud farm’s tiniest equine inhabitant, and he lives amid larger horses. In 2014, Bombel set the Guinness World Record for the World’s Smallest Living Horse, standing at only 56.7 cm tall!
3) Barivel the Longest Cat
Barivel, the Longest Cat resides in Italy and is a Maine Coon. Despite his length, he is known to be a shy and quiet cat. Plus, he’s got his own Instagram account (@barivel_maine_coon)! Born in 2016, Barivel broke the Guinness World Record in 2018 by measuring up to 120 centimeters in length.
4) Poncho the Longest Horn Span
Poncho Via, a seven-year-old Texas longhorn from the state of Alabama in the United States, has set a record for its horn with the longest span. When Poncho was around four years old, the owners discovered that his steer’s horns were not curving up like normal longhorns but were instead growing straight out. Poncho’s horn is 3.23 meters long, which is almost double that of an average asian’s height and broke the Guinness World Records in 2019.
5) Cassius the Largest Living Crocodile
Cassius, the largest living crocodile was captured in 1987 in northern Australia before being moved to the Marineland Melanesia wildlife park. The average Saltwater Crocodile tend to grow to an average of 4.9 meters. Cassius however, is 5.48 meters, a 100 years old and broke the Guinness World Records in 2020.
