“In Her Words” pays homage to screen icons who have championed the cause of female representation, advocating for women to be heard and valued for their intrinsic worth rather than superficial appearances.
From the enigmatic allure of French actress Lea Seymour to the transformative performances of Hollywood luminaries like Nicole Kidman and Viola Davis, these women have defied industry expectations and reshaped the landscape of cinema with their powerful voices.
“Crafting the Ideal” delves into the complex interplay between media representation and societal perceptions of beauty. Here, visitors are invited to ponder the ways in which the female form has been idealized, politicized, and exoticized by mass media, often leading to unrealistic and harmful standards.
Through the lens of iconic figures such as Marilyn Monroe, Meena Kumari, and Joan Chen, the exhibition sheds light on the resilience and resilience of women who have challenged prevailing stereotypes and paved the way for greater inclusivity and acceptance.
“Cut from the Same Cloth” offers a fascinating glimpse into the evolution of Malay cinema, showcasing three trailblazing icons—Salome, Maria Menado, and K. Fatimah—who defied conventional gender norms and empowered women through their groundbreaking portrayals.
