Locally Produced Food. Some know about it, some only heard about it. Singapore has a fair share of farms that have been producing food for our local markets. In recent times, popularity has increased for farm visits as Singaporeans become more aware of food production and the places to get the freshest produce right in their backyard. Join us as we list some of the best farms to get local produce in Singapore!
1. Khai Seng Fish Farm
Establishes in 1997, Khai Seng Trading & Fish Farm is the only one of its type in Singapore to bear the Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority seal of approval to operate a retail outlet at their premises. So besides heading on down to know how your fish was reared, you can also get your chance to purchase fresh fish straight from the source when you walk in (delivery services available only for wholesale)!
With more than 30 fish ponds on a 3.8 Acres farm located near Lim Chu Kang, freshwater fishes such as Patin (Pangasius) and Catfish are reared with other seafood such as Grouper, Tiger Prawns and Sea Bass available based on seasonal demands. Live products such as Toman (Snakehead), Bullfrog, and Freshwater Eel from Malaysia and Taiwan are also imported so there is a wide variety to see and choose from.

2. Jurong Frog Farm
Ever wondered where the food seller’s frog legs are sourced from when you consume your frog porridge? Well, they might have come from the Jurong Frog Farm. This farm has been around since 1970 and moved from its Jurong location to its Kranji location in 1993. Even though they moved, they chose to retain its name as “Jurong Frog Farm” and it is also the only frog farm along Kranji.
At the farm, be prepared to get up close and personal with these jumpy creatures. There are activities such as “Catch-A-Frog”, “Frog Feeding Frenzy” and even a special activity for kids to become a “Frog Quest Explorer”. You can even purchase delicious frog meat (from $12.60) and souvenirs at their “Royal Frog Shop” to bring back and make your own version of frog leg porridge. XD

4. Dairy Folks
Established since 1936 (before the war :O), Dairy Folks is one of the few remaining cow farms left in Singapore. Starting with just 6 cows in 1936, they have grown to a farm with hundreds of cows, supplying fresh milk produce everyday. The hundreds of Holstein Friesians Cows on the farm are fed daily with fresh-cut grass and are milked twice daily. To ensure freshness of the milk, it is pasteurised on site with no preservatives and additives added. The shelf life of each 1-litre of milk is quite short (about 3 days), but you are guaranteed freshness with each gulp of milk.
Ice cream that is made from the same fresh milk is also available! Each carton costs about $6 and although it is not as cheap as the supermarket, we can guarantee it was #locallymade.
You can purchase fresh milk and their own home-made ice cream from their website here!
Address: 5 Lim Chu Kang Lane 8A Singapore 719608
Opening Hours: 9am to 6pm daily
5. Hay Dairies Goat Farm
Maybe instead of cow’s milk, you may prefer something more unique like goat’s milk? Well fret not, we have a goat farm in Singapore too!
Hay Dairies Goat Farm has been established since 1988 and is currently the only goat farm on our little red dot. You can visit the farm to know more about goat rearing and caretaking. We recommend you visit between 9.00am to 10.30am to watch the goats being milked in an orderly fashion as well.
Once you are there, you should also bring back some bottles of goat milk to try! The goat milk bottles come in either 200ml ($2.50) or 800ml ($8) in original or chocolate flavours. Home deliveries are also available so check them out here to order and get it delivered straight to your doorstep.
