With many celebrities entering into the food scene, next on the list is Fann Wong with her new online pastry brand Fanntasy which will be available from 13th October onwards. A dessert lover herself, enjoy two new signature offerings such as the Signature Valrhona Chocolate Tart (700g) and Musang King Gula Melaka Tart (750g) created with recipes after much trial and error by the actress.
Both tarts measure 7 inches, which can be cut into six standard or eight smaller slices. Having partnered a licensed baker, production for Fann’s new pastries can be scaled up to meet potential demand. Inspired by her family’s favourite flavours, the chocolate and durian tarts were created.
For the Signature Valrhona Chocolate Tart (S$58), chocolate sable serves as the base. The enticing chocolate cremeux is made with Valrhona 70% dark chocolate, which lends a richness and intense flavour without the cloying sweetness. Beneath the cremeux is a layer of delicate almond sponge, which balances out the overall flavour. Gold dust is then sprinkled atop the tart for a touch of sophistication.
Marrying two local favourites is the Musang King Gula Melaka Tart (S$68). Packing a potent punch, the filling is made with pure Musang King pulp and housemade gula melaka sauce. The snowing of desiccated coconut adds a subtle fragrance and is all set in a gorgeous butter sable base.
Each tart comes with a topper that features a whimsical helmet-wearing rabbit that was designed by Fann herself. The artwork was inspired by her husband, Christopher Lee’s Golden Bell nomination for his role in Workers, as well as the rabbit being her son’s favourite animal. Known for being soft and cuddly and gentle when you hold a rabbit, this is the same feeling that Fann wants to evoke in her desserts.
When you order these tarts, they will arrive semi-frozen. To enjoy, just let them sit in the fridge for one to two hours. The tarts need to be chilled and are best consumed within three days.
