For those who still do not know, Chinese New Year falls on Sunday, January 22nd, 2023. While everyone is still soaking up the Christmas festive spirit, it’s time to spend some time looking into your CNY plans especially for the reunion dinner with your family.
Orchid Live Seafood Restaurant will be launching their two Chinese New Year menus (Indulge Set from $428++ for 4pax & Premium Set from $508++ for 6-7pax) that will be available from 9 January 2023 onwards, released for the first time alongside a house-made pencai and yusheng platter to toss to more good luck! Here are some of the dishes you can look forward to:
Known for their prized live catch in a signature Teochew style, Orchid Live Seafood’s lobsters come right out of the tanks with each dish ordered. The Furong Steamed Southern Australian Lobster is a whole lobster steamed to juicy tenderness, served on a bed of silky steamed egg and lobster roe that is extra sweet and fresh.
Warm your stomachs with a nourishing Braised Whole Shark’s Fin Soup with Crab Meat that is filled with ingredients like whole’s shark fin, fish maw, fungus and crab meat. A thick and hearty soup, each bowl is full of collagen and umami that goes well with a bit of vinegar and parsley.
For plenty of abundance in the upcoming new year, the HK Steamed Live Soon Hock with Superior Soy Sauce is a simple rendition that brings out the freshness of the fish. Steamed with superior soy sauce to keep its natural sweetness, the dish is then topped with fried pork lard, spring onion and Chinese parsley.
For more seafood delight, the Scallops Served with Crab Roe and Broccoli comes with a generous amount of Japanese scallops that is stir-fried with creamy egg whites, accompanied by broccoli for added crunch and crab roe for richness.
Although vegetables and seafood are delicious on its own, pair it with the Five Treasure Lotus Leaf Rice with Crab Meat that is folded in with five flavour treasures of dried mushrooms, premium dried scallops, lap cheong, salted egg and dried shrimp. Brimming with ingredients, the dish is then topped with even more crab meat that will satisfy on both taste and texture.
For something a little more special than the usual cold platters, why not try the Signature Platter that has a little of everything for everyone? Served with a refreshing Abalone Tofu Salad, house signature marinated fried chicken wings Steven Chicken and a Ngoh Hiang meatroll served with sweet sauce, this is a great dish for your reunion table.
