My family and I love cycling. Not only we get exercise, but we get to enjoy the beautiful views of Singapore. Almost every weekend – before the pandemic of course, we would grab our bicycles and ride them all the way to Marina Bay Sands using provided cycling trails.
There are several cycling trails here in Singapore. I bet there are cycling trails at each part of Singapore – North, South, East, and West. Let’s look at some of the cycling trails here in Singapore for a fun time with your loved ones.
Western Adventure Loop
Calling all people from the western part of Singapore! This cycling trail starts from Chua Chu Kang Park. As you follow along, this trail will bring you through parks and greenways, allowing you to get up close with nature.
You will come across Dairy Farm Nature Park and Jurong Lake Gardens which is home to the Chinese Garden and Japanese Garden. Do not forget to take short break in between as it is a fairly long trail – about 12km long. You will also be cycling along the Bukit Panjang Park Connector. Here, do look out for about 50 different bird species then end off your journey at Bukit Batok Nature Park.
Northern Explorer Loop
Up your cycling game with the Northern Explorer Loop as it spans over 25km. This trails also gives you the opportunity to be surrounded by the beauty of nature. Though it is fairly a long trail, you are never too far away from neighbourhood areas such as Yishun, Sembawang and Woodlands.
Starting from Lower Seletar Reservoir, this trail will bring you around reservoirs, a freshwater swamp and a jetty at Woodlands Waterfront – one of the longest in Singapore. Ride along the park connector, as it ensures smooth riding. However, you will also come across some terrain on the route. Nonetheless, you can also spot some wildlife such as monkey and birds.
Eastern Coastal Loop
I have to say that this is one of my favourite cycling routes. Starting from Pasir Ris Park, the trail brings your through Tampines Eco Green and Bedok Reservoir. You will end your journey at East Coast Park. Alternatively, you can also start form Changi Beach Park and take the Coastal Route instead.
Though this trail ends at East Coast Park, you can definitely continue the journey all the way to Marina Bay Sands. Ride along the scenic greens of Gardens by the Bay. You can also stop by Satay by the Bay and savour in good satay paired with flavour-packed peanut sauce.
Central Urban Loop
This final trail brings you to the charms of the heartlands. Some highlights along the trail includes Bishan-And Mo Kio Park, Ang Mo Kio Town Garden West, Punggol Park, and more. This entire route is joined up by the Park Connector Network.
This also means that you would have to be careful as the trail is shared by joggers and other cyclists. Apart from that, you can also look out for adorable otters at Punggol Waterway Park. Just remember to be careful as they might be crossing the track.
I have yet to cycle via some of these routes and would definitely look forward to it when the COVID-19 restrictions are lifted. Time for a cycling date! Share this with your friends and family and this might be your next cycling adventure!
