With the official launch of Charr’d, Singapore’s first halal eatery serving the prized A5 Kuroge Wagyu meat from the Mie Prefecture, beef and steak fans now have another cause to celebrate and another steakhouse to frequent.
Charr’d offers a casual gourmet eating experience that is as distinctive as it is delectable, coming from the same crew as Tomahawk King. In order to provide the freshest and most sustainable source possible, it is the only eatery in Singapore to purchase and ship whole A5 Wagyu Kuroge cows from Japan in March 2023.
Mains Charr’d To perfection
Their A5 Ribeye ($48) features 100 grams of A5 Japanese Wagyu ribeye that has been broiled to your preferred degree of doneness with just a sprinkle of flaky salt. The A5 Ribeye boasts a rich marbling of fat and a tender texture that melts in your mouth, providing a buttery and savory flavor that’s unparalleled.
The beef’s aroma is complemented by a slightly sweet and nutty taste, which comes from the high-quality feed and careful breeding of the Kuroge cattle. With its exceptional quality and taste, the A5 Ribeye is a must-try for any steak lover.
Up next, the A5 Japanese Wagyu tenderloin ($58) has high levels of marbling throughout the meat giving it a unique taste and aroma, with a subtle sweetness that complements the natural umami flavor of the beef. When cooked to perfection, the A5 Tenderloin at Charr’d is sure to be a luxurious and unforgettable dining experience.
Other options include the A5 Sirloin ($38) that is a delicately marbled cut of Japanese Wagyu beef, grilled to perfection with a charred crust on the outside and a juicy, tender interior.
For the complete experience purchase them on the Heavenly Meat Board ($198), which serves up to four individuals. The dish features a variety of the special cuts on a meat board along with a choice of two sauces.
Choose to have your perfect cut with 5 sauce choices that include the House Bearnaise ($5), Chimichurri ($5), Wasabi Mayo ($4), Yakiniku No Tare ($4) or Ghost Peppercorn Mayo ($4).
For those who prefer a different cut of meat, give the Charr’d Lamb Rack ($38) a try. 200 grams of Australian lamb rack is grilled and served with a house mint marinade if sirloin isn’t your thing today. The lamb rack has a rich and distinct flavor that can be described as gamey, earthy, and slightly sweet. The meat is tender and juicy, with a mild but pleasant gaminess.
Additional Dishes to Complement
For indulgent sides to share, get the A5 Wagyu Cubes ($19) that is served with shimeji mushrooms, baby spinach, and a sprinkle of flaky salt or a plate of Truffle Fries ($13) that is double-fried in beef tallow, elevated with thyme-smoked olive oil aioli, and garnished with shredded parmesan and spring onion.
To balance out the meaty affair, order the Charr’d Broccoli ($12) where broccoli is charred over an open flame and tossed with roasted pine nuts, chili shavings, bonito flakes, and a miso vinegar that tantalizes your taste buds.
The stems was also slightly charred, adding to the dish’s visual appeal. It has a satisfying crunch on the outside and a soft, tender interior. The charring adds an additional layer of texture to the dish, giving it a slight crispiness that balances the tender broccoli.
Not a fan of broccoli? No problem. The Cream’d Moonlight Spinach ($13) sees spinach cooked in a luscious Parmigiano-Reggiano cream and enhanced with charred pine nuts, nutmeg, and an onsen egg to add to its velvety smoothness.
For desserts, try the House Croffles ($13) that is topped with dark chocolate gelato, chocolate syrup, whipped cream, and a cherry or the House Brownie ($12) where a delectable dark chocolate brownie baked with sea salt and walnuts, crowned with Charr’d burnt cheesecake gelato, chocolate syrup, whipped cream, and a cherry to satisfy all your chocolate cravings.
Apart from meats, sides and desserts, wash it all down with a selection of drinks including exciting mocktails such as:
- The Greenhouse Effect ($12) is a refreshing blend of green apple, elderflower, and orange with bubbly sprite for floral sips.
