Singapore food lovers have a new reason to rejoice. MICHELIN Selected Unagi Yondaime Kikukawa has opened its doors at Shaw Centre (#01-12). This famous Japanese unagi chain comes from Nagoya and brings over 90 years of experience.

Unagi Yondaime Kikukawa started as Nakasho Shoten, an unagi wholesaler in 1932. It’s now led by Chef Kikukawa Yuhei, the fourth generation of his family to master unagi preparation. Unagi, or grilled eel, has long been popular in Japan for its rich taste and health benefits.

In just four years, Unagi Yondaime Kikukawa has expanded rapidly, opening 33 restaurants worldwide, including in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea, Thailand, China, and now Singapore. The Singapore outlet is in partnership with Les Amis Group.

Fresh and Expertly Grilled Unagi

What makes Unagi Yondaime Kikukawa special is its carefully selected live eels. The restaurant chooses only the freshest, highest-quality eels. Expert chefs grill the eel over traditional binchotan charcoal, creating crispy, caramelized skin and soft, juicy meat.

After grilling, the unagi is dipped into their secret tare sauce. This sauce recipe has been perfected over generations and enhances the eel’s rich, savory-sweet flavor.

Must-Try Signature Dishes

Two signature dishes highlight the menu:

  • Kabayaki Ippon Unagi Set ($48) – Enjoy an entire premium eel grilled perfectly. The crispy skin and melt-in-your-mouth meat are served in special handcrafted Japanese tableware called Minoyaki, ensuring your unagi stays perfectly warm.

  • Hitsumabushi Set ($37) – A famous dish from Nagoya, this set offers three ways to enjoy unagi. First, savor the grilled eel alone. Next, add provided condiments to enhance flavor. Finally, pour warm dashi broth over rice and eel for a comforting finish.

Discover authentic Japanese unagi dining at Unagi Yondaime Kikukawa, now open in Singapore.
