If you’re familiar with girl groups like BLACKPINK or 2NE1 from YG Entertainment, you’ll be excited to learn about their latest sensation, BABYMONSTER, also known as BAEMON. They’ve recently gained significant popularity amidst the ongoing debates about 5th generation girl groups. As a huge fan, I’ve put together this guide to help you get to know them better.
BABYMONSTER debuted through the reality show “BABYMONSTER Last Evaluation,” where all seven members—Ahyeon, Asa, Chiquita, Pharita, Ruka, Rami, and Rora—were chosen to debut.
They officially debuted on April 1, 2024, and are known for their impressive live performances, truly living up to their name, BABYMONSTER.
Songs
Before their official debut, BABYMONSTER released a pre-debut promotional single, “Dream.”
They followed up with two singles, “Batter Up” and “Stuck in the Middle,” although these featured only six members due to Ahyeon’s health-related absence.
Ahyeon made her return in their recent single, “Sheesh,” which they are now actively promoting with numerous performances.
Members
The members of BABYMONSTER hail from different countries: Ruka and Asa are from Japan, Ahyeon, Rami, and Rora are from Korea, and Pharita and Chiquita are from Thailand. Ruka is the oldest, while Chiquita, also known as the maknae, is the youngest. Though I like all of them, I do have personal favourites.
Ahyeon, 17, serves as the main vocalist and a rapper. Despite her previous absence, she made a strong comeback, captivating many fans. During the last evaluation, her performance of “Dangerously” by Charlie Puth was so impressive that Puth himself commented on it, highlighting her powerful vocals.
Ruka, my bias, is a 22-year-old rapper and dancer known for her strong visuals. She excels at quickly learning and perfectly executing dance moves, making her a standout performer in the group.
Of course, all of the members are incredibly talented and have their own specialties: Rami is the main vocalist, Asa is both a rapper and dancer, Pharita is a vocalist, Rora is a vocalist, and Chiquita is also a vocalist.
For BAEMON fans, you’ll be thrilled to know that they will be having a fan meet in Singapore at The Star Theatre on June 15, 2024. Be sure to catch their live performance and experience their talent firsthand. Most seats are already sold out but if you have not got your tickets, you can check https://ticketmaster.sg/activity/detail/24sg_babymonster for availability.
