Located in a two-story conservation house in Little India, Tan Xiang Yuan by celebrity Ben Yeo serves as a portal to the past, inviting guests to wander down memory lane and re-experience the charm of yesteryears.
Inside, a neon alley filled with mystic lights and adorned with uniquely crafted elements of Singaporean culture offers a vibrant backdrop.
Phrases like “wa lao eh”, “alamak” and “siao ah” glow colourfully, creating the perfect scene as patrons enjoy a series of Cantonese-Chinese cuisine.
Introducing novel dishes that promise a fresh gastronomic experience, the Lo Han Pork Stomach ($16) features a whole pork stomach stuffed with braised pork trotter. Reminiscent of pork trotter jelly but adapted for modern palates, this delicacy is served with a spicy housemade garlic chilli sauce.
Seafood enthusiasts should not miss the Soup-Filled Foie Gras Shrimp Ball ($12/pc). These crispy golden balls burst with flavour, containing a blend of minced prawn and a rich broth made from pig skin, pork knuckle, and foie gras, all encased in a crispy breaded shell.
The menu also includes Nanjing Salted Duck ($20), a cold appetizer where the duck is marinated with Sichuan peppercorns, spices and salt. Air-dried and cooked in a spice-infused water, this delicacy is served cold to enhance both taste and texture.
Other dishes to look out for includes the Golden Garlic Steamed Lobster with Yam Cake (seasonal price), that pairs Australian lobster’s sweetness with handmade yam cake enhanced by Chinese waxed sausage.
Great for sharing, the Signature Seafood Pot ($98 small, $188 large) stands out, simmering a mix of seafood and other ingredients to create a bold and flavourful experience.
For greater indulgence, the Angelica Black Pepper Crab ($12.80 per 100g), uniquely blends the herbal notes of dang gui with the robust flavour of black pepper or try the Mao Shan Wang Durian Chilli Crab Ball ($12/pc) enclosed in a taro ball that surprises with every bite.
For a limited time, Tan Xiang Yuan is introducing a lunch promotion that offers $1 Peking Duck (U.P $98) with every order of the Signature Seafood Pot. This offer is available daily during lunch hours and is limited to one duck per table, with a minimum of four diners.
With much to offer, look forward to Cantonese-Chinese delights that tells the story of tradition, family and love for good food at Tan Xiang Yuan.
