We’re here again another Guinness World Record for animals. Let’s appreciate these world record broken by animals that you should know about around the world.
- Mochi The Longest Tongue
According to the Guinness World Records, the longest tongue measured 7.3 inches. For five years, Mochi retained the record. Mochi was a Colorado rescue dog. She performed over a hundred appearances at schools, nursing homes, animal rescue events, and on television. In 2017, Mochi was featured on the cover of the Guinness World Records book “Amazing Animals.”
Carla Ernst, the dog’s owner, said in a Guinness video from 2017 that she used Mochi’s favourite snack, peanut butter, to demonstrate how far the pooch’s tongue could reach. “All the water and drool we’ve cleaned up over the last six-and-a-half years was well worth it,” Ernst remarked when Mochi was recognized as a record holder.
- Franchesca the Furriest Rabbit
Franchesca, owned by Betty Chu (USA), has the longest fur on a rabbit, measuring 36.5 cm (14.37 in), as measured in Morgan Hill, California, USA, on August 17, 2014. Dr Betty Chu (USA) is Franchesca’s proud owner; she’s an expert on the English Angora rabbit, which is frequently mistaken for a Pekingese dog and requires a lot of attention… and a lot of brushing of that dense, silky fur. Francesca unusually long fur, which is more than twice the length of a Subway sandwich, requires a lot of maintenance to keep it in good form.
- Big Daddy the Longest Legs
“Big Daddy,” a large Japanese spider crab that came to Sea Life Blackpool in Lancashire, UK, in 2013, had the longest leg on a crab, measuring 1.43 m (4 ft 8.5 in). On August 8, 2013, the record was confirmed in Blackpool. Big Daddy passed away peacefully in early 2016, when he was around 80 years old.
- Medusa the Longest Snake
Medusa, a reticulated python (python reticulatus) owned by Full Moon Productions Inc. in Kansas City, Missouri, is the world’s longest snake (in captivity). On October 12, 2011, she was measured at 7.67 meters (25 ft 2 in) in length. Medusa is also the current holder of the title of ‘Longest Snake – Living (Captivity)’. The 10-year-old snake took 15 men to hold her at full length in order to take her record measurement, and her food consists of rabbits, hogs, and deer supplied twice a week. She’s been known to consume an entire 18-kg (40-lb) deer in a single sitting. Medusa weighs 158.8 kg (350 lbs).
- Tigger the Longest Ears
As of September 29, 2004, the longest dog ears measured 69.1 cm (27.20 in), with the right and left ears measuring 34.9 cm (13.75 in) and 34.2 cm (13.5 in), respectively. They belong to Bryan and Christina Flessner of St Joseph, Illinois, who possess Tigger, a bloodhound. Tigger has a slew of show titles under his belt, including over 180 Best of Breed awards. In 2003, he was inducted into the Bloodhound ‘Hall of Fame.’ Tigger sadly died away in October of 2009.
