Cycling has seen an increase in its fair share of popularity over the past few years. Besides it being a great form of exercise, it also allows one to explore another side of Singapore, especially locations that are off the main track, on a bike.
For those who are nature lovers, there are several nature biking trail that you can go across the island. You can do it anytime of the day but do note that some cycling trails are not suitable after dark unless your equipped with proper gear however some are and those would even have some spots you can stop at for supper.
1) Mandai Loop
A ride through the nature-immersive part of Singapore, will lead you past Thomson Nature Park, Dairy Farm Nature Park and MacRitchie Reservoir. Although this route is about 35km, it can be completed in two to three hours if you want to go the distance. If not, stop and enjoy the nature and scenic views before enjoying the sunset if you plan your time wisely. With so much to see and do, put your bicycle aside for awhile and explore the area around.

2) Seletar-Thomson Route
As this route is located far away from the highly populated residential areas, the Seletar-Thomson route makes for the perfect cycling route. You won’t have to squeeze with other cyclist or passer-bys or use that obnoxious bell. This trail will lead you to Yishun Dam, Lower Seletar Reservoir and the cafes that stretch along Upper Thomson Road. If you are an avid plane spotter, you can catch the occasional plane taking off into the skies as the trail goes halfway around the Seletar Airport.

3) Eastern Coastal PCN Loop
One of the most popular cycling routes, the Eastern Coastal PCN covers areas from Changi and Bedok Reservoir to East Coast Park with a total distance of 42km. This is the perfect cycling route for those with tons of stamina and will be a great exercise or workout for beginners in outdoor cycling. Albeit longer than most cycling routes in Singapore, it can be rewarding and you can cycle without worries of getting lost or the anxiety of cycling on the main roads.

4) CBD Loop
The CBD Loop is something that you might want to try in the evening after work, unlike the other route where people would usually cycle in the morning/afternoon on the weekends. The route only covers a total distance of 22km, however it brings out the best views of Marina Bay and the surrounding CBD buildings and skyline. If you prefer the view of city landscape to nature, the CBD Loop might be the one for you. The glimmering lights doting skyscrapers as you cycle around Marina Bay, Orchard road and Marina Barrage is simply mesmerising and you have to see it for yourself to understand why.

5) Northern Explorer Loop
This route is packed with 11 parks and nature sites. Throughout the ride, the landscape will change constantly change and offer a brand new feel for cyclists. Popular amongst those who stay around the northern part of Singapore, the Northern Explorer Loop will bring people along the Park Connector Network (PCN) from Sembawang through Yishun. For people who visit the north side just to cycle, the loop will provide a great change of scenery that is worth traveling for.
