The Ice Cream Bar is the first (and only) ice creamery in Singapore and Malaysia that specialises in alcoholic flavours. Intrigued by how different types of alcohol were able to impart complex flavour profiles that are uncommon in ice creams, they set out to create boozy ice creams which incorporate various liquors, spirits, wine and beer, bringing together two things we love the most – alcohol and ice cream.
With an obsession for research and experimentation (read: day drinking), The Ice Cream Bar offers a wide range of handcrafted alcoholic ice flavours which include signature flavours such as Smoked Cognac, Guinness Pistachio, Crunchy Coffee Whisky, Black Forest, Baileys Brownies, Kahlua Cheesecake and, of course, Rum & Raisin.
Premiering a new flavour in October, check out their Popcorn Daiquiri which consists of a full-bodied ice cream blended with Bacardi rum and fresh popcorn coated with buttered caramel and generously topped with maple coated almonds. This is a delightful treat that combines the natural sweetness of rum and caramel with the lingering buttery saltiness we love about popcorn at the cinemas. Perfect for a night in with your loved ones.
Their philosophy for handcrafting these boozy ice creams is simple, they emphasize on balance in taste and texture! For that ice cream texture that we all know and love (i.e., smooth and creamy) great care must be taken as too high an alcohol content will just get you a melted, gloopy mess.
The first The Ice Cream Bar (TICB) was started in KL, Malaysia in 2016 and they have been constantly looking to raise the bar since then. Today, there are currently three TICB cafes in Malaysia and the first TICB café in Singapore opened its doors in mid-September 2021.
Standard flavours at The Ice Cream Bar start at $4.90, with most alcoholic flavours priced at $5.90 per scoop. Get a single scoop / double scoop of icecream with your buttermilk waffles that are priced at $10.90 / $14.50 respectively but do note that there is a surcharge of $1 for premium and alcoholic flavours.
Pints are also available for takeaway and delivery on Grab if you live within the area with prices ranging from $16 per pint (for standard flavours) to $21 per pint (for double premium flavours). Or not you can DM them directly on Facebook to place your orders.
