With so many stalls island wide selling this delicious dish, it’s difficult to find the greatest chicken rice in Singapore. It is, after all, one of Singapore’s national dish and the go to for many whenever you are in doubt on what to eat for lunch or dinner. So, here is a guide to the best chicken rice you can get here in Singapore that I would recommend for a great meal.
Go-Ang Pratunam Chicken Rice

While it’s not quite as good as our local favourite, it’s still a fairly good serving of chicken rice ($5.50) with it’s main quirk being the chilli. This one is sticky, sweet, and somewhat spicy, rather than the fiery kind we’re used to. You may get zi char type items like braised pork ($8), steamed fish ($28), omelette ($5.50), and basil chicken ($8) in addition to the standard chicken rice selections as well.

Boon Tong Kee
This renowned chicken rice restaurant began as a small cart in Chinatown and has since grown to include eight locations and a diverse menu that includes everything from traditional zi char items to premium specialties. Stick to the tried-and-true aromatic and delectable chicken rice ($5) with delicate steamed chicken and remember to get it with a side of chilli.

Evertop Hainanese Boneless Chicken Rice
For years, Evertop has served Halal and traditional Hainanese chicken rice. The little stand in Tanglin Halt has grown in popularity but the recipe has remained the same. With chilli, ginger, soy sauce, and, of course, the aromatic chicken rice ($10.80), their poached chicken is presented simply yet has a plethora of flavours. Add side dishes like mango salad ($9.00), tofu with sweet chilli ($9.00), and more to turn it into a large family feast if you are planning to visit with your loved ones.
Location: Clementi Ave 2, #01-259 Blk 354, Singapore 120354
Opening Hours: 10.30am – 9.30pm (Mon – Sun)’’
Five Star Chicken Rice
This restaurant’s slogan isn’t simply a catchphrase; the chicken rice ($6.50) served here is deserving of five stars. The primary distinction is that only kampung chicken, also known as free-range chicken, is employed in their cooking. It’s supposed to be less fattening and less greasy than regular boiled chicken, and many people swear by the texture difference.
The slow-cooking technique utilised also assures tender and fragrant meat every time you return. The meal is elevated even more by a homemade chilli and ginger sauce, which we highly recommend you try as well when you visit.
Locations: East Coast Road | Cheong Chin Nam Road | River Valley Road
