You heard me right, today is International No Diet Day (INDD), so stop your diet now. And go grab all your food you want right this moment :p OK, I’m kidding, it’s not what this day is all about. For all our dear Muslim friends, eat what you want after you break fast yea.
On a more serious note, INDD is an annual celebration of body acceptance, including fat acceptance and body shape diversity. Mary Evans Young, director of the British group “Diet Breakers” in 1992, created International No Diet Day. As a result of personally experiencing anorexia nervosa, she worked to help people appreciate themselves for what they are, and to appreciate the body they have. The first INDD was celebrated in the UK in 1992. A dozen of women commemorated this day over picnic with a “Ditch the Diet” stickers.
Let us celebrate the importance of body acceptance, diversity and respect for all shapes and sizes not just today. (In my opinion, everyday should be a no diet day… just saying…)
