Curry puffs are a blank canvas for flavour—all you need to do is wrap a delicious warm filling in a casing of flaky pastry. Traditionally, curry puffs are filled with a curry made with either plain potato, chicken, or sardines. However, there have been a few creative iterations over the years, mostly revolving around local favourites.
Check out some of the most unique flavours that have been created so far!
Chilli Crab Puff
Old Chang Kee is one of the forefront inventors of creative curry puff flavours, and this Chilli Crab ‘O only scratches the surface of the crazy flavours they’ve made.
There was even a Chilli Crab Camou Puff with camo on to celebrate SAF Day in 2021, seeing this flavour suited up in a tan-green-black pastry instead.
Tip Top, another major curry puff brand, also made their own version of the Chilli Crab Puff, easily placing this flavour as one of the most popular Singaporean dishes to be encased in pastry.

Nasi Lemak Puff
Nasi Lemak is another flavour that’s had various curry puff iterations. Old Chang Kee first released this green-skinned pastry in 2018, bringing it back in 2019 for another round.

Mala Chicken Puff
Old Chang Kee has also made Mala Chicken O’ Curry Puffs, even creating a panda-shaped version in 2021 to commemorate Singapore’s first panda cub!
Bak Kwa Puff
In January this year, Old Chang Kee released yet another curry puff flavour, this time celebrating the Chinese New Year crowd favourite bak kwa! It had sweet, smoky chicken bak kwa wrapped in flaky pastry, a sure-fire winner.
Hainanese Chicken Rice Puff
Yet another local meal made into a curry puff by Old Chang Kee. This caught the attention of Singaporeans islandwide when it was released in 2019, boosting Old Chang Kee yet again into the limelight.
Durian Puff
This is definitely something that’s never been seen or imagined before! Old Chang Kee released this crazy Durian Curry Puff for Singapore Food Festival’s Curry Day 2018, together with their Jackfruit Curry Puff.
Jackfruit Puff
Released together with the Durian Curry Puff, this Jackfruit Curry Puff has a filling of curried potatoes, chicken, eggs and jackfruit. What a combination!
