As of May 16th, to June 13th, the number of COVID-19 cases has been on the rise in Singapore. I am pretty sure many of us were saddened by the news and was not expecting new restriction to be implemented. However, we must all ensure that we work together to eventually defeat COVID-19.
Now that many of us are schooling and working from home, we must be extremely bored. I mean we are only allowed to go out in groups of two and we are not allowed to dine in at restaurants and even hawker centres. Pretty boring right?
However, this does not mean that we should stop being active. There are so many things to do at home. Let’s look at some of the things I plan to do during this period!
Redecorate My Room
This has definitely given me the opportunity to revamp my room! I have always wanted to do so but I am always caught up with other things. This is my chance! Pinterest has been my best friend since forever. I get most of my inspiration – be it the things I wear, henna designs for Hari Raya or just looking up mood boards.
I find myself looking at room décor ideas recently and man was I hooked on some of them. I have always wanted my room to have some type of aesthetic to it – having a consistent colour scheme and maybe a minimalist look to it.
Now that I have some inspiration of how I want my room to look like, I will then write out the things I need for my room. This also means I would have to head over to IKEA’s online store to look at the pricing of the items I need. I am extremely excited for this!
Try Out Viral TikTok Recipes
When I was first told about TikTok, I told myself, “I am not going to be addicted.” I was wrong. There are so many different type of content on TikTok – I was shook. At first, I came across several TikTok dances and I thought, “Okay, this is pretty mainstream.”
The more I use TikTok, I came across so many other videos such as cooking videos, life hack videos and more. I was immediately hooked onto the cooking videos and some of the recipes were pretty interesting. I told my sister that we are going to try and make some of the dishes but did not have the time to.
Well, now I do! Some of the TikTok recipes that I definite want to try is the Feta Cheese Pasta and Gigi Hadid Pasta – as you can see, I am a pasta fan. Time to be and chef and cook myself some good food!
Paint More Canvases!
Since the start of circuit breaker last year, I became interested in painting. I have always loved the idea of creating beautiful artwork, but I am not as confident. Back in secondary school, I was not an art student and was not very good at it too.
However, ever since I started painting some of the canvases I have purchased, I find it therapeutic, and it helps me escape from reality for a moment. At first, I was scared that I might mess it up but that is the beauty of it. There is no right or wrong in art. I just have to let loose and let my creativity take charge.
Now that I am more confident in the artworks I have done, I am definitely going to experiment more with painting and releases my creative juices.
Time to Work Out!
The restrictions were implemented just a few days after the first few days of Hari Raya Aidilfitri. Though I was pretty sad that I could not proceed with visitings, I did manage to indulge in some of my favourite Hari Raya dishes – I ate quite a huge amount.
I mean, after a whole month of fasting, many of us could not resist the aroma of fragrant rendang and ketupat. Honestly felt like I gained weight and felt that it was time to lose some of them.
I downloaded an app called Workout for Women and have used it before and it works wonders. I am also working on counting my calories. To make my workout more fun, I looked up some dance workout videos on YouTube. I feel pretty pumped for this one!
These are some of the things that I might do during this period. The pandemic has definitely placed a heavy burden on our shoulders, but it does not stop us from having some ‘me-time’. This is your chance too!
Plan out some of the things that you want to do and start working on it. Don’t let the pandemic stop you from living the best life!
