Singapore beaches may pale in comparison to those found in Malaysia, Indonesia, or Thailand. However, what it lacks in water quality and landscape, it more than makes up for in man-made distractions and facilities.
With travel plans still on hold for most Singaporeans due to the pandemic, you can still enjoy a local beach holiday at one of these beaches:
Tanjong Beach
Tanjong Beach is considered the most secluded and remote of three beach sections in Sentosa. This doesn’t mean you’ll be completely alone though. On average, Sentosa Island sees over 20 million people each year but Tanjong Beach will yield a better chance of finding a quiet space among the palm trees.
If you prefer tranquility and solitude, this is a spot to sunbathe and while away the hours in the sun with a gentle breeze. At night, the twinkling lights of nearby ships provides a magical backdrop for a romantic date as well.

East Coast Beach
East Coast Beach is on the southeast coast of Singapore and like others, is man-made, built on reclaimed ground, and has plenty of sunbathing areas. The park’s enormous size ensures that there is plenty of room for beach lovers of all ages.
This is a terrific weekend destination, with plenty of bikes to rent and walking pathways for a stroll or run. The multiple beachside eateries, camping spots, and BBQ pits ensures that there is a plethora of F&B options to cater to different needs. If you want some peace and quiet, come during the weekdays. Sitting beneath the swaying coconut trees, it’s easy to forget you’re only minutes away from a bustling metropolis.

Palawan Beach
The Palawan Beach is one of Singapore’s most well-known beaches, is noted for its Pirates of the Caribbean-style suspension bridge that connects to a small island that you can walk or even swim across. Located in the southernmost point of Sentosa with excellent white sand and a few bustling beach bars, you will be refreshed from mid-morning till late at night.
The calm, turquoise lagoons here are also ideal for swimming and water sports but if you’re looking for some wet ‘n’ wild fun don’t forget to pay a visit to Singapore’s first floating aqua park – Hydrodash!

Punggol Beach
Likely the least-visited beach in Singapore, Punggol Beach is concealed in the corners of the obscure Punggol Point Park (for us westies at least). Although accessible by MRT, shuttle and buses from the city, it is not as well-known or popular as compared to its other counterparts.
The sand is fine and smooth like most beaches in Singapore, but there is a large cluster of stones in the centre that you should not miss when you visit. The spot makes for great photos especially during sunset timings and is a great area to get away from the crowds and enjoy some lovely views across to Malaysia.

Some time out in the sun and away from the usual hustle and bustle of city life is great nourishment for the soul. While away some time at these spots as we relax and prep our bodies and minds for the next day ahead.
