Yang Ming Seafood is a homegrown zichar eatery founded by Keith Kang in 2019 during the pandemic. It has since gained a steady following and is known for serving premium live seafood at reasonable prices in the heartlands.
Some of their signature dishes include the Andrew Lobster (choice of live Boston or Australian lobster), Double Flavour Tofu Fish and Pig Stomach Chicken Soup that showcases a blend of traditional flavours and innovative twists.
The restaurant is also renowned for their interpretation of iconic dishes like Salt Baked Crab, Steamed or Fried Baby Sotong as well as Salt and Pepper Prawns amongst many others.
For its Ubi branch’s second-year anniversary, Yang Ming Seafood introduces a series of new dishes to whet your appetites.
Try the first-of-its-kind Chao Tah Pig Trotter CCF ($25) made with a silky chee cheong fun stir-fried with pig trotter to a smoky ‘chao tah’ char for texture and served atop an egg omelette for extra protein.
Eat your greens with the Dry Shrimp Vegetables ($25) a Hong Kong favourite way of preparing crunchy vegetables, stir-fried with dried shrimp for a burst of umami flavours.
Crab is put in the spotlight once more with the Golden Gravy Crab with CCF offered in Indonesia live crab ($95/kg) or Sri Lanka live crab ($100/kg) versions.
Cooked in a golden pumpkin gravy robust with the sweetness of crab cooked from a rich crab stock and served on a bed of chee cheong fun, this is a dish not to be missed.
If you prefer a soupier option, the Umami Crab Seafood Paofan ($138) is cooked to immense sweetness with live crab and live prawns and topped with crisped rice for added texture.
The prawns are first fried to extract its natural oils to fragrance the rich stock that is then used to cook the rice for flavourful bites from the first mouthful.
Yang Ming Seafood’s Ubi outlet is housed in an unassuming canteen within a cement-washed industrial building with bright neon lights that offers a pop of freshness.
Live seafood tanks showcasing the day’s catch welcome visitors and the restaurant provides indoor and outdoor seating options, including a private room for up to three tables.
The establishment also offers free corkage for all dine-in guests, allowing patrons to bring their preferred beverages so make a point to visit them for your next family gathering!
