Well since the SingapoRediscovers voucher validity is going to expire soon on 31 December 2021, why not use it to enter explore the marine realm of S.E.A. Aquarium? Home to more than 100,000 marine animals of over 1,000 species, check out the massive aquarium with over 50 different habitats.
Be it rain or shine this is a place that will not be affected by the weather. Here are some things you can’t miss while at S.E.A aquarium.
-
Shipwreck Habitat
The first exhibition you are greeted by is the Shipwreck Habitat. This is one of the most impressive exhibits with more than four million litres of water. The exhibit simulates how some shipwrecks evolve into thriving marine habitats with sponges and corals colonising the wrecks.
-
Shark Seas
Connected to the Shipwreck Habitat, visitors would have to walk through the dome-like exhibit to begin their actual journey through the aquarium. Here you’ll come face to face with the apex predators of the sea.
This exhibit is home to more than 70 sharks of over 12 different species. Just like the Shipwreck Habitat, you can view these creatures from the underwater tunnel or the flat viewing panel. Sharks are widely misunderstood creatures so learn more about them at S.E.A. Aquarium!
-
Coral Garden
Despite its name, the Coral Garden houses no live corals. The habitat portrays a colourful reef world with more than 5000 fishes from over 100 species instead. Fish, marine worms, barnacles, crabs, snails and sea stars all prey on the soft inner tissues of coral thus they are vulnerable to predation. Due to its artistic design and array of fish, this is a spectacular exhibit to check out.
-
Dolphin Enclosure
Looking to spot one of the most playful creatures of the sea? Seeing the dolphins swimming extremely close to the viewing area must be the best part of the enclosure (for me at least). With only four dolphins swimming around the shallow waters and showing off their skills in swimming, it is best to check them out when its their feeding time.
-
Sea Jellyfish Gallery
The jellyfish gallery is one of the most visually stunning areas in the aquarium. The tentacles of the jellyfish are just so mesmerising to me. I would safely say that this would be my favourite exhibition of all if not for the dolphin enclosure.
Each species is placed in their own tanks and all the tanks are constantly changing in colour. Due to this effect, the jellyfish absorbs the light’s colour and reflects them. Six species have been successfully bred at the aquarium, including the moon sea jelly and white spotted sea jelly.
There much much more habitats and enclosure I could talk about, but I won’t spoil the fun and let you guys discover the rest when you visit. S.E.A aquarium is definitely a place each one of us should visit with some friends, your family and loved ones at least once. Better yet, offset them with the SingapoRediscovers voucher if you have yet to use them!
