With the sudden change in weather and rainy situations nowadays, a hot bowl of Mala Tang will comfort your heart and stomach. Yang Guo Fu, the world’s largest mala tang chain has just launched a series of instant self-heating pots so we can all enjoy this warming dish in the comforts of our own home.

All one must do is add room temperature water into the bottom of the pot, wait 18 minutes for the pot to heat itself (be careful of the steam that it emits) and enjoy! No external heat source, be it fire or electricity, is required so this is an easy to prepare and fuss-free meal to have at home.

With a total of five flavours available, the Sour Soup Beef ($9.90) will tease your palate with its sour and savoury flavour. Made with preserved mustard leaves, the set comes with beef chunks, lotus root, enoki mushroom, bamboo shoots, kelp and black fungus for a hearty meal.

To add on to their non-spicy collection, the Beef Tomato ($9.90) is light and tangy with all the tomato-y goodness that is refreshing and delicious at the same time. For those who prefer their soup bases to be spicy, the Beef Mala Tang ($9.90), which is concocted with more than 10 spices and Sichuan peppers is rich in flavour with a spicy oil that coats your tongue.

Watch out as the spiciness will linger as you indulge in the plentiful ingredients provided from sliced potatoes, to lotus roots and beef chunks but be careful not to choke on the oil.

From left to right: Beef Mala tang, Luncheon Meat Mala Tang

Those who prefer slices of luncheon meat to beef chunks in your hotpot can opt for the Luncheon Meat Mala Tang ($9.90) which also uses beef broth as the base. For the non-beef eaters, the Luncheon Meat Tomato ($9.90) uses a non-beef soup base so everyone can enjoy Yang Guo Fu’s delicious self-heating pots.

Each self-heating Mala Tang bowl is a hearty meal in itself with a plethora of vegetables along with glass noodles, chewy sweet potato noodles or wheat noodles that is perfect for a busy day or as a wonderful accompaniment for your movie marathons when it’s pouring outside.

If you prefer to add your own ingredients or make your own hotpot, three hotpot soup pastes will also be available for sale at $3.30 each. These include the restaurant’s highly popular broths such as Beef Mala Hotpot Paste, Spicy Hotpot Paste and Tomato Hotpot Paste.

If you prefer dry mala to soup based options, use these pastes for stir-fries or braised dishes and unleash your creativity to make a comforting meal at home. Interested to get these products?
