True to its Japanese spirit of hospitality, it aims to provide guests with a relaxing experience by offering a wide range of traditional Japanese therapies, from onsen baths to shiatsu massages, Japanese facials, and more. Their spa outlet at Bukit Timah also features a beautiful Zen garden where guests can relax after their spa treatment or enjoy a cup of tea while taking in views of lush greenery in Bukit Timah.

Hinoki Onsen Bath

The Hinoki Onsen bath is one of the most popular treatments offered at Ikeda Spa. It’s said to be good for detoxification as well as relieving stress and tension. The steamy hot water flows through the wooden tub made of genuine Japanese cypress wood, which is said to be once reserved for Japanese royalty.

This spa treatment is good for detoxification and relieving stress and tension because it releases a highly therapeutic hinoki wood oil. Many Japanese believe that hinoki wood oil acts as a decongestant of the respiratory system and is a traditional remedy to cure asthma.

Furthermore, they also let you select from 5 different bath salts (extracted from famous hot springs in other parts of Japan) to add to the onsen.

Before soaking in the onsen bath, you should take a cold shower to cleanse your body. You can do this sitting on a stool, pouring water into a bucket, and then running the bucket over yourself – just like how Japanese should traditionally do in the bathhouse. After every ten minutes in hot water, you should give yourself another cold shower until you’ve had enough.
