Looking for something to do? The Gem Museum is the first and most comprehensive gems and minerals museum in Singapore that is opened to the general public with FREE ADMISSION! This museum is founded by husband and wife team, Mr. Tay Kunming and Ms. Loke Huiying.
It was branched out of their passion for gems and gemology, which is the study of gemstones. The Gem Museum curates exhibits and workshops that tells the “Mine to Market” story of a gemstone. The most popular workshops are “Crystal Appreciation” which targets at adults, and “Junior Rockstar Gem Adventure” which targets at children from ages 7 to 12.
Other than these workshops, they also provide on-site activities like “Create your own Pet Rock” (both adults and kids love this!) and also “Simple jewellery making for children”. The museum welcomes families with young children as well as old folks. If you have a chance to meet with the founders at The Gem Museum, you’ll soon realise that they believe strongly in creating conversations for multi-generations in a family.
Since its founding in 2015, The Gem Museum has participated in exhibitions organized by the Singapore Night Festival, as well as Singapore Jewellery and Gems Fair. In 2020, they also started their online webinar series “Zooming into Gems” which is so popular that they are still running this webinar almost every month! The webinar series can be found on their YouTube Channel here.
