The Boba Guide | Go “Healthier” With Coconut Drinks

Recently, there is an increase in popularity for coconut shakes, making it the biggest competitor for the beloved bubble tea. This popularity is partially thanks to a new Mr Coconut outlet popping up every other day with many other shops opening to meet the demand.

Being a pioneer in such drinks, they have gathered a huge following. If you want to give this refreshing drink a try but don’t want to deal with the long queue, you can check out these other stalls that offer coconut shakes as well.

CocoBoss

This homegrown coconut shake brand only opened its pioneering outlet earlier this year and has branched out to multiple outlets islandwide. Recently, they have established their first concept store that is complete with some IG-worthy spots at Peninsula Shopping Centre. Some of the most popular beverages, the OG Coconut Shake ($5.80) and Roasted Coconut Shake ($6.90), are available in all their outlets. Check out their Cold Brew Coconut Shake ($6.90) as well.

Fruce

Fruce is known for making satisfying smoothies for its customers. Avocado Coconut (from $4.80) which is their firm favourite, is rich and dense making it very refreshing on the hot day. They have two other signature drinks, Taro Coconut ($5.00) and Coconut Fruce ($5.00), which is quite popular among fans. If you’re feeling fancy, you can pay $0.70 for add-ons such as coconut ice cream or coconut capellini (aka coconut noodle).

Co+Nut+Ink

Starting as a coconut ice cream stall in 2013, they have branched out and now offer coconut shakes at any of their stores around Singapore. You can expect their Signature Original Coconut Shake ($6.80) and Healthy Fatty Avocado ($7.80) in their menu. They also offer localised shakes, such as pandan, uji match, red ruby, bandung and gula melaka.

Coconut Queen

Each shake is made up of a combination of coconut ice cream, juice and flesh. If you feel that tropical fruit and coconut shakes are an impeccable combination, then you should give Coconut Queen a try. Besides their bestseller Original ($4.30), they also have a variety of fruity shakes, such as banana, jackfruit, lychee and mango coconut drinks. If you are feeling adventurous, you can try their other unique flavours such as Earl Grey ($4.80) and Mung Bean ($5.20).

Coconutnut

If you’re craving a coconut drink but are too lazy to queue for the OG, you can give Coconutnut a try. They sell two different styles of drinks: Nut Nut, which is a flavored coconut milk-based drink, or try their quintessential shakes. Their more affordable shakes, the Coconut Gelato Shake (from $3.90) is a popular favourite.

Coco Cane

From the name, it can be deduced that this stall specialises in both coconut and sugarcane drink. 100% Pure Cococane (from $3.20) is their best seller, but they also have Coconut Snowshakes if you want to switch up your usual. Their Signature ($5.00) has a thick and creamy texture with strong notes of coconut milk. They also have other flavours that you might want to give a shot such as Mango Snowshake ($6.20) and Lychee Snowshake ($5.90).

Being the same price as bubble tea, coconut drinks serve as an alternative option for the masses. Coconut shakes might be slightly healthier as compared to bubble tea which may be more appealing to some and hence the increase in its popularity. But should you prefer your drinks with 100% sugar make sure you take note of your waistlines and drink moderately!
