Prawning is a kampung-style approach of catching your own fresh seafood. It’s considerably easier than fishing since prawns are tiny and struggle less than their finned cousins. All you will need is some bait, patience, and a few clever tugs, and you’ll get to grill your catch. Here are some prawning spots in Singapore.

Fish@Bugis+

If you want to get away from the Singapore heat but still partake in some outdoor activities, why not prawn in a cool room. Those needs, and more, are met at Fish@Bugis+. Aside from the numerous prawns available for catching, some of them are also marked with colours that entitle consumers to a surprise reward which sets it apart from the other establishments. Costing $18 an hour, or $29 for two, you only have to worry about catching those prawns as the rest is taken care of, bait, rod and net included.

Location: 201 Victoria St, #07-05 to 06 Bugis+, Singapore 188067

Opening Hours: 9.00am – 6.00am (Mon – Sun) | Price: From $18/Hour

Hai Bin Prawning

Punggol’s Hai Bin Prawning is ideal for a bottle of beer and, if your fate is in, a heaping bowl of fresh prawns. It’s set up beneath a thatched dome with red lanterns hanging from the ceiling above plastic seats that surround six ponds, all of which are routinely stocked with live prawns.

Barbecue pits, charcoal, satay sticks, and salt for seasoning are all included in the hourly price, as well as equipment and bait. The onsite bar area has reasonably priced Corona and Hoegaarden beers ($6-$10), as well as red and white wines under $40 if you are feeling ‘Atas’.

Location:  6 Tebing Ln, #01-04, Singapore 828835

Opening Hours: 24/7 | Price: $20/Hour

Prawning at ORTO

Prawning at Orto is an experience in itself as it’s Singapore’s largest prawning location, with ten enormous ponds containing giant head prawns and yabbies (a sort of crayfish) to choose from. Because they’re open 24 hours a day, you’ll always be able to get in an hour ($20) or two ($30) of pawning even late at night to get away from the hustle and bustle life.

Location: #01-09 81 Lorong Chencharu, 769198

Opening Hours: 24/7 | Price: From $20/Hour

ATC Fishing Village

The Jurong Bird Park and the Science Centre aren’t the only attractions on Singapore’s west side. ATC Fishing Village is just next to Jurong Hill, where you may cast your lines for prawns. They also offer a Tagged Prawn Rewards system (during the weekends), where you may earn $2, $5, $10, or one free hour of prawning depending on the colour of the prawn’s tag you reel in.

Location: 241 Jln. Ahmad Ibrahim, Singapore 629143

Opening Hours: 24/7 | Price: From $20/Hour

Prawning is a soothing and simple pastime to pick up as well as a great date night activity because most of these establishments are open till late. While you wait for the prawns to bite, impress your other half with your abilities or simply enjoy each other’s company over a drink or two.
