Take A Trip Down To The Sakura Installation at Gardens By The Bay

Join Japanese beloved icon, Hello Kitty as she visits the Sakura installation at Gardens by the Bay!

Missing Japan and its beautiful display of Sakura and Momo? Look at the bright side. Locals can now join Hello Kitty and experience the fascinating display of Sakura and Momo right here in Singapore.

SAKURA INSTALLATION: Join Japanese beloved icon, Hello Kitty as she visits the Sakura installation at Gardens by the Bay.

From now till March 31st, 2021, Gardens by The Bay presents ‘Sakura featuring Hello Kitty’ held at the Flower Dome. It is an installation inspired by the cherry and peach blossoms blooming in Spring. 

Hello Kitty Visits Sakura Floral Display

Hello Kitty made her first appearance way back in 1974 and has been associated with Japan when the “kawaii” craze started. Visitors can spot Hello Kitty dressed in the Japanese traditional kimono, posing next to rickshaws, designed to match the character’s style.

Apart from that, visitors can also look out for a golden Hello Kitty as she admires a valley of Sakura and Momo as they make their way to an outdoor picnic.

Furthermore, there is a life-sized Hello Kitty topiary to look out for as visitors admire the beauty of nature to end the wonderful experience.

Display Highlights

As visitors enter the conservatory, they are given the chance to observe the display of these beautiful flowers and symbols used in the Japanese culture.

Cherry Blossoms – Sakura

These beautiful flowers symbolise a time of renewal, bringing hope and new dreams at the start of the Japanese calendar. Usually blooming in Spring, these flowers can only last for about a week or two. The time of flowering and length of blooming can be affected by the change in weather.

Peach Blossoms – Momo

Peach blossoms, also known as Momo, grows on the peach tree. These flowers are fragrant and only will bloom in early to mid-Spring. Similar to the Sakura, these flowers can last for a week or two.

Apart from that, these flowers symbolise purity and womanhood. Many young women would display these flowers in their homes for good luck and joy when they get engaged.

Furthermore, in Japan, these pretty pink flowers represent marriage and a sign of loyalty.

Japanese Gate – Torii

The Torii is a traditional Japanese gate, that is commonly located at the entrance of Shinto shrines. The gate marks the transition from the profane to the sacred. It is simply used to mark a place with deep religious meanings.

Apart from that, it also marks the entrance to a sacred place. Thus, it is customary for visitors to bow their heads before passing under it.

Red-crowned Crane

This crane is an endangered species. This majestic creature was thought to have a lifespan of a thousand years. Thus, it is a symbol of longevity and good luck. It also represents fidelity and loyalty.

Apart from admiring the wonderful display, guests can also treat themselves to a wide range of merchandises and a limited-edition flavoured dessert.

As visitors exit the conservatory, they will have the chance to feast their eyes on Hello Kitty merchandise that will be available for purchase. From school bags and accessories to the most mandatory item today, facemasks.

After a long day at the conservatory, visitors can indulge in the limited-edition Sakura ice cream by Udders made exclusively for Gardens by the Bay.

As a token of appreciation, Hello Kitty is giving all visitors a special gift. Visitors will be able to snap selfies with the Facebook profile picture frame and a special filter for Instagram stories. Simply download the frame on Facebook or follow @gardensbythebay on Instagram.

Head down to the Gardens by the Bay Flower Dome to experience the wonderful ambience of Japan, filled with fragrant Sakura and Momo.
