As a dancer, my life revolves around music. I am constantly on the search for new music. Be it any genre, if the song or music has good beats and a great rhythm to it, it will be on repeat on my Apple Music.

I have shared my love for R&B music and some of my favourite artists. Apart from R&B, I really enjoy the beats of Dancehall music. It used to only be a music genre; however, people are always dancing to the Dancehall songs and thus, Dancehall has evolved into a dance genre as well.

There is just something about Dancehall music that makes me want to dance – it is so vibey. There are so many individuals who have contributed so much to Dancehall. I do have some favourites myself. Let me share with you some of my favourite Dancehall artists for you to add into playlist!

Sean Paul

I was first introduced to Dancehall beats when I listen to Sean Paul songs. I am sure many of you may know some of his songs such as Temperature, She Doesn’t Mind and Get Busy. These are just some of my favourite songs from this talented individual.

He has also collaborated with several other artists such as Dua Lipa on her song, No Lie. Other songs include Rockabye by Clean Bandit featuring Anne-Marie. Sean Paul songs have also been used for dance performances.

Style Groovaz Crew (SGC) have used some of his songs for their 15th Anniversary dance production, Identity back in 2019. Sean Paul songs are used in one of the segments, The Stage. This is by far my favourite Dancehall performance by SGC.

Kranium

Kemar Donaldson, better known as Kranium, is a Jamaican reggae and Dancehall singer. He was known for his 2013 hit single, Nobody Has To Know featuring Ty Dolla $ign. It is one of my favourite songs. This song compared to other Dancehall songs has a much slower rhythm, while still maintaining the Dancehall essence of it.

Another song by Kranium is Can’t Believe featuring Ty Dolla $ign and WizKid. The music video to this song makes me want to dance so bad. Other songs include Lifestyle, Toxic, and Through the Window.

Stefflon Don

Stefflon Don has got to be one of my favourite female Dancehall singers. She is a British rapper who has rose to fame after releasing her single, Hurtin’ Me featuring French Montana in 2017. Some of favourite songs from Stefflon Don is 16 Shots and Senseless.

Apart from releasing her own songs, she has also collaborated with several other artists such as Halsey, Demi Lovato, and Mariah Carey.

Korede Bello

This last artist was introduced to many of us when he released his song Do Like That in 2018. When I first listened to the song, I became addicted immediately. I even tried to come up with a choreography for it, but I did not film it – bummer.

The song was such a hit that it even has a dance trend that was flooding my TikTok For You Page. I actually learnt it but was to shy to film it. Another song that I love is Romantic featuring Tiwa Savage. Similar to Nobody Has To Know, this song is much slower song compared to other Dancehall songs.

These are some of my favourite Dancehall artists and their songs. You can also check out other Dancehall artists and songs too! Do not forget to share this with your loved ones as maybe add this singers to your playlist if you ever need good songs to dance and let loose.
