The popular Malaysian restaurant Siong Tong Gai, renowned for its delectable seafood and innovative Chinese cuisine, has opened its very first overseas outlet in the heart of Orchard Road at 313@somerset. Known for drawing crowds with its fresh, live steamed fish and a wide variety of family-style dishes, Siong Tong Gai’s debut in Singapore brings exciting new flavors to local diners at affordable prices.

A New Culinary Haven for Seafood Lovers

Since its founding in 2008, Siong Tong Gai (上汤街) has become a household name across Malaysia, famous for serving fresh seafood prepared with unique broths and creative twists. Now with 12 outlets, 11 in Malaysia and the newest right here in Singapore, Siong Tong Gai brings its tradition of quality and affordability to a new international audience. A key element of the restaurant’s popularity is its commitment to fresh ingredients and distinctive recipes perfected over decades.

Must-Try Signatures: Live Steamed Fish and More

At the heart of Siong Tong Gai’s menu is its Signature Steam Fish in Superior Broth—a dish that has captivated Malaysian diners for years. Only live river or sea fish are used, making each bite tender and rich in flavor. This superior broth is crafted with an exclusive recipe passed down over 30 years, ensuring a deliciously authentic taste experience.

Must Try!!!

For a flavorful twist, the Sweet and Sour Popcorn Pork ($20.80) is a must-try. Each bite features tender, juicy pork encased in a crispy golden coating, fried to perfection. The dish is finished with a mouthwatering homemade tangy sauce, delivering the perfect balance of sweet, sour, and savory flavors.

Another comforting classic and family favorite is the Crispy Homemade Tofu with Minced Meat ($13.80). With a crisp exterior and a soft, delicate interior, this dish offers a delightful contrast in textures. The minced meat is enhanced with fried shrimp and a garnish of spring onions, adding layers of flavor and texture for a truly satisfying experience.

Other iconic dishes to look forward to include the Steam Three Treasures with Steamed Fish and the Fried Prawns with Soy Sauce. The Three Treasures dish combines prawns, clams, and squid in a hearty fish broth, delivering an umami-packed flavor that pairs perfectly with rice. For prawn lovers, the Fried Prawns are flash-fried to lock in their juices and then tossed with a soy glaze, creating a rich, caramelized taste that’s hard to resist.

New Chef Creations Just for Singapore

Exclusive to the Singapore outlet, Siong Tong Gai’s chefs have also introduced innovative new creations, promising an exciting culinary experience for all ages. Some highlights include:

  • Stir-Fried Pork with Green Pepper ($18.80): This aromatic dish combines tender pork with vibrant green peppers, stir-fried for a balanced heat and a satisfying crunch.
  • Golden Crispy Chicken Drumettes ($18.80): Half of these crowd-pleasing drumettes are prepared in an addictive sauce, while the other half are fried to a golden crisp and topped with garnishes, delivering a burst of flavor with every bite.
  • Double Delight Pork Chop ($18.80): A unique combination of zesty lemon aioli on one half and a sweet-and-sour sauce on the other, perfect for those who want the best of both worlds.
