For a long time, sophisticated dining in Singapore has revolved around French cuisine. DB Bistro & Oyster Bar
Daniel Boulud’s Marina Bay Sands spin-off is a blend between New York-style seafood and French bistro, combining the best of both worlds. With towering triple-tiered platters of giant shrimp cocktails, oysters, Maine lobsters, and more, you just can’t get enough of.
Try the French onion soup ($27). It’s the epitome of French cuisine, being full of meaty flavour and caramelised onion sweetness. Even better, it’s soothing while yet being light on the palate, but just be sure to not burn yourself with the molten cheese.

Odette
Odette is just beautiful. The light-filled restaurant is decorated in a delicate, pastel hue that complements Julien Royer’s delectable nibbles. This is Royer’s first initiative as a chef-owner, and the restaurant swiftly came to popularity and now has three Michelin stars to its name.
Seasonality and artisanal food are all emphasised at Odette, as they are at other fine-dining restaurants in its class. Their lunch tasting menu starts from $248++ and remember to make your reservations early in order to secure a table (Online reservations have to made a month in advance).

Bistro Du Vin
At Bistro du Vin, there’s a tangible sense of warmth when you dine there. Perhaps it is the oddities of the interiors. Maybe it’s the staff’s cheerful friendliness. Possibly it is the simple plating and abundant servings. Whatever it is, you’ll want to take someone to Bistro du Vin when introducing them to the delights of French food. It’s the kind of place that will put you at ease on a first date.
Though less expensive than other restaurants of the same level (the 2-course ‘express’ lunch starts at $34++), Bistro du Vin’s bistro classics are just as technically sound as their competitors. Try their “Grand-Mere” Joue de Boeuf ($38++) where the beef cheeks are fork-tender, and the delicious, red wine-saturated sauce begs you to leave your diet at the door. With such dishes, if you lack self-control, you will leave this place with an empty wallet and satiated stomach.

Bar-Roque Grill
Don’t be fooled by the lavish baroque-style furniture and luxurious textiles. Stephen Istel, the chef-owner, drew on his Alsatian heritage to create a menu of daily favourites growing up. His Alsatian treats include tarte flambee (crispy flatbread) ($16) pate-en-croute (terrine cooked in puff pastry) ($64), and even burgundy snails ($24).
When you come here, the Alsatian flambee tarte ($16) is a must try dish to start with. There are a variety of toppings to choose from, but the classic mix of cheese, bacon pieces, and chopped onions is sure to blow your taste buds away.
