While there are many great skateparks in Singapore, skateboarders are often subject to hot or rainy weather conditions. Local skateboarding school, Por Vida Skateboarding, is here to fill the gap as they will be opening Singapore’s largest indoor skatepark and school on 1 October 2022!
Located within the newly refreshed GR.iD Mall in Dhoby Ghaut, the 6,708 square feet skatepark will be Singapore’s sole indoor space with a range of facilities dedicated to skateboarding.
This new space offers the skateboarding community a versatile and conducive space where they can hone their skills and gather with like-minded skateboarding enthusiasts — no matter the weather.
A Training Ground for All Skateboarders
Nestled in the basement of the mall, the air-conditioned space opens daily from 10am to 10pm. With a capacity limit of 35 pax to ensure a sufficient skating field for its visitors, the park entrance fee is set at $15 for a 2hour session per person.
Pham Tan, Founder of Por Vida Skateboarding hopes to welcome skateboarders of all ages and skill levels with a thoughtfully-designed skatepark that features a wide variety of fun skate obstacles.
Specially designed and customised with various types of skate obstacles like mini ramps, quarter pipes, flat bank, flat bar and rails, there are also grind boxes, benches, ledges and even wave ramps available. This makes the space suitable for skateboarders of all skill levels and ages, especially for beginners new to the sport.
Other than skateboarding, the park also welcomes rollerblading and roller skating, as well as other land board sports such as longboarding and surf skating.
In addition to bringing your own gears, there are options to rent gears on site or even purchase the latest gears at the dedicated retail space. The indoor skatepark will also feature a resting and refreshment area to chill and relax when you meet up here with your friends and shower facilities available in the mall should you wish to freshen up after a session.
A Skateboarding School – No matter your age or skill level
Made up of a passionate team of specially selected certified skateboard instructors, Por Vida Skateboarding has been offering lessons to children and adults since 2012 with the aim to help students learn the exhilarating sport in a fun and engaging way.
It is never too late to start learning as Por Vida Skateboarding students vary in ages — from as young as five years old to even those in their 60s. Starting from 5 September 2022, the first 50 new sign ups will also be able to get their hands on goodie bags with exclusive Por Vida Skateboarding merchandise.
Trial lessons ($45 for a 45min session) are available for first-time students to learn the basics and be assessed for a suitable lesson plan, before signing up for the Beginner and Intermediate courses (from $200 for 4 sessions per module).
