Places You Can Visit To Stargaze In Singapore

Ever since I was young, I’m always fascinated by astronomy and being in Singapore makes it hard to look at stars at night. It’s a great activity to do with your friends or family, and it doesn’t require a lot of time or money to arrange. So, I’ll be listing a few places in Singapore to stargaze! All you have to do is go to one of these locations, gaze up, and admire the lovely stars.

  • Changi Beach

People living in the east side of Singapore may enjoy a beautiful, starry night at Changi Beach. Take a leisurely stroll along the boardwalk and be amazed by the endless sky and sea that meets on the horizon with beautiful views. The beach is also divided into six primary sections, so you won’t get lost along the way. You may even have dinner at the neighboring Changi Village food vendors after all that strolling and stargazing.

  • Pulau Ubin

The island northeast of mainland Singapore where our last kampungs are located, is presumably familiar to you. As a result of Pulau Ubin being less populated and overcrowded, there is less light pollution in the region at night, giving you a better chance of viewing stars.

Here’s a thought for you. Take a day trip to this laid-back island to enjoy activities like bicycling, hiking, and kayaking. You may also go bird watching or eat at one of the local seafood restaurants while observing the different animals. Then, spend the night camping on the shore at either the Marman Campsite or the Jelutung Campsite, where you can enjoy some of Singapore’s best stargazing spots.

  • Andromeda Observatory

The Andromeda Observatory, located near the Galaxy Community Centre (CC) in Woodlands, conducts weekly stargazing events on Fridays and Saturdays for a low $1 entry cost. You’ll be able to observe many objects in the solar system via the powerful telescope, including the Andromeda Galaxy, after which the observatory is called.

  • Marina Barrage

Any time you visit the Marina Barrage’s roof top area, you’ll see people having picnics and kite-flying at the Green Roof area, both of which are ideal for little children. With a clear view of the stars above at night, these become even more amazing. Keep in mind that access to the Green Roof is only available until 9 p.m. daily, so start stargazing early!

  • Science Centre Observatory Singapore

When it comes to stargazing in Singapore, this is the first site that most people think of. From January through mid-November, the Science Centre Observatory (SCOB) hosts free weekly stargazing programs every Friday. The observatory holds these classes on Tuesdays and Fridays from mid-November until December. You may take turns looking through their advanced telescopes at the stars, moons, and even planets.

Don’t worry if you’ve never used a telescope before. The Astronomical Society of Singapore (TASOS) and Science Centre employees will be on hand to assist you.

Because of the light pollution and high-rise structures in Singapore, finding a nice place with a clean, uninterrupted view of the sky might be tough, but not impossible! Also do check the weather before hand to see if its suitable for stargazing!
