In the past, fruit orchards, nutmeg plantations, and pepper farms may all be found along Orchard Road. However, a stroll down the flashy boulevard today reveals futuristic retail malls, the occasional cocktail bar, whatever type of food you desire, and smaller boutiques featuring emerging local names.
There are so many places to see in Singapore’s famed shopping district that we’ve compiled a list of some locations to visit if you are in the area.
Shake Shack
Shake Shack’s Orchard location is inspired by nature, with an open-air terrace — a homage to the original Shake Shack location in Madison Square Park – and a mural by local artist Danielle Tay showing a verdant Singapore landscape. An open-air refreshment kiosk is also available for grab-and-go at the Orchard location.

Chatterbox
The famed Mandarin chicken rice (from $25), produced from larger and heavier 65- to 75-day-old broiler chickens, is served in bright colours with earthy shades of green and beige. Each one yields only four servings of chicken rice. The classic trio of dark soy, garlic-infused chilli, and grated ginger dips are served alongside beautifully oiled rice and softly cooked chicken.

Singapore Botanic Gardens
The Singapore Botanic Gardens, on the outskirts of Orchard Road, provide a calm break from the city’s bustle. The Evolution Garden Walk, a well-landscaped area holding the fossilized remnants of ancient trees, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site that includes a swan lake where visitors can feed the black Australian swans and a swan lake where visitors may feed the black Australian swans. The National Orchid Garden houses the world’s greatest collection of orchids, with over 1,000 species and 2,000 hybrids, as well as the national flower, Vanda Miss Joaquim.

Orchard Central Rooftop Garden
In the heart of Orchard, there is a rooftop garden. An unassuming garden overlooking stunning views of the city may be found nestled on the top of Orchard Central. Relax and enjoy a quiet evening with the calming sound of waterfalls in the background, which is a terrific way to unwind after a long day at work. You might even come upon Yayoi Kusama’s sculptures.

Halcyon & Crane
Paragon’s Halcyon & Crane interior has a lovely, simple feel to it and it’s made up of fresh, full-flavored meals. The Tenderloin ($38) with Shoyu glaze, mash potato, and maple miso sweet potatoes, as well as the Dan Dan Spaghettini ($24) with pork ragu, peanut sesame butter, onsen egg, and kale, are my top food recommendations when you visit.
