Ever think “what if my chicken rice dish was a burger?”. You don’t need to think anymore XD. McDonald’s will be launching their very own rendition of a Hainanese Chicken Rice inspired burger. Aptly called the “Crispy Hainanese Chicken Burger”, it was created by McDonald’s Singapore in collaboration with Mediacorp Artiste Ben Yeo.
The Lowdown Of The Burger
The burger is fairly straightforward. It features a crispy chicken patty with sandwiched between two fluffy McDonald’s buns. But it also features sauces that are specially unique to the Hainanese Chicken Rice, mainly ginger sauce, garlic chili sauce and dark sweet sauce. The burger is available at $6.60 a la carte, or at $8.30 for a burger with an Extra Value Meal.
The dark sweet sauce is served to you in a separate sachet. Its designed intentionally so that diners would be able to customise the amount of dark sweet sauce added to the burger. Just like how you would drizzle the desired amount of dark sauce on your plate of chicken rice (which for me is a lot) XD.
Ben Yeo commented that his inspiration behind the burger comes from his love and passion for local food. He also added that since McDonald’s Singapore has a strong chicken-based menu, the Hainanese Chicken Rice inspiration naturally came to mind.
Can I Get Fries With That
There is no way that McDonald’s Singapore would launch just a single burger XD. Accompanying the burger are new and returning products that you may be familiar with.
The returning favourites on the menu will be the crunchy Crisscut Fries (a la carte $3.50(M), $3.80(L)) and the Banana Pie ($1.40). A new additional to the McDonald’s drink family is the Kopi Frappe ($4.30(S), $4.70(M)), in celebration of our nation’s 56th birthday. Imagine it like your usual frappe from McDonald’s, but you can smell the sock coffee brew that is coming from your cup. The best way to enjoy some locally inspired coffee.
Availability
The new burger and new menu items will be available after 5 August 2021. You can purchase the burger, crosscut fries and banana pie during the after-breakfast hour menu. The special Kopi Frappe is available throughout the day. So you can head on down to get a new Kopi fix at McDonald’s.
So go ahead and try the latest burger creation whilst you celebrate our nation’s birthday!
