Singapore’s cinemas and theatres are already in operation, which means there are a slew of interesting new releases to look forward to, including some excellent Netflix titles. Quite a few huge blockbusters are set to hit theatres, including some interesting entries in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, a new Fast and Furious film, and a slew of possible new Oscar candidates.
Army Of The Dead
In this Netflix action film, Zack Snyder foregoes his usual DC fare in favour of zombies. In Army Of The Dead, a zombie plague has displaced everyone, including a Las Vegas resident and previous zombie war hero who lives on the outskirts of town with little to no action. When a casino boss assigns him the duty of breaking into a zombie-infested quarantine zone to retrieve millions of dollars, he gladly accepts the challenge and assembles a mismatched crew of professionals for the largest and most dangerous heist ever attempted.

Fast And Furious 9
Image: Fast and furious 9Who would have guessed, a Vin Diesel film about street racing and heists in 2001 would turn into a multibillion-dollar series that’s still going strong nearly two decades later? With the spin-offs Hobbs & Shaw have aired over the middle of 2019, the main series cranks up for the ninth time, with regular director Justin Lin. Jordanna Brewster returns to the Fast & Furious franchise for the first time since her character, Mia, went into the sunset with the late Paul Walker’s Brian in Fast & Furious 7. In the film, John Cena will play Dom’s brother, and Han will return. We can share much more about the movie without spoiling it, but “Justice Is Coming“.

Black Widow
It has been long overdue (with all the delays) for Marvel to release a female-led, action-packed film. Black Widow is set in the aftermath of Captain America: Civil War, before the heroine’s (spoiler alert!) unfortunate demise in Avengers: Endgame. It tells the story of Natasha Romanoff (the Black Widow), who returns to Russia to face the demons of her past. This appears to be more of a spy thriller than a superhero film, so be sure to get a full bucket of popcorn because you will be in for a treat.

The game, which is a lethal GTA knockoff, is about to be shut down, and it’s up to Guy and one of the game’s developers to team up and rescue the game. When this movie eventually arrives to the big screen, expect a lot of laughter and entertaining scenes during the film.

Halloween Kills
Image: Halloween KillsMichael Myers is back for the second time! Jamie Lee Curtis will return for the sequel to the 2018 Halloween remake, and this violent sequel promises to showcase a gory bloodbath once again. The sequel to Halloween Kills isn’t the only one on the way. The new trilogy will conclude the following year (2022) with Halloween Ends. We don’t know much about either film, other than this announcement from Universal, which informs us that the narrative of Michael Myers and Laurie Strode “isn’t over. Well, if things remain the same for the second year in a row, you can expect a frightening Halloween this year.
