Known for their delicious pastries and aesthetically pleasing cakes, LUNA Patisserie will be opening their second outlet in Joo Chiat in early December 2022! The café will welcome the public with an industrial chic feel while showcasing the making of chocolate bon bons through a new specialty chocolate-making showroom.
Look forward to in nine diverse chocolate bon bon flavours of Orh Nee, Salted Caramel, Hazelnut, Matcha Yuzu, Pistachio, Raspberry, Strawberry, Goma Peanut Butter, Mango Passion and Oolong.
Exclusive to their Joo Chiat outlet, a “New Frontiers” menu will feature new desserts made with unusual ingredients like buckwheat, rhubarb, cassis, tofu and more. LUNA will also be launching two limited edition items for the festive season with their Triple Chocolate Christmas Tree Cake ($82) and the Sweet Celebrations Christmas Set ($39).
If I had told you that this cake was made using real, actual tofu, you might frown at both the idea and this dessert. However, this tastes unexpectedly delicious. The Tofu ($8.50) is shaped to resemble the actual protein yet tastes so delicious with the layers of moist vanilla sponge, vanilla mousse, hazelnut praline and silken tofu. An extra crunch is given to the Tofu with the toasted buckwheat.
With beautiful layers of crunch and chocolatey goodness, the Cassis Chocolate ($9) comes with a purple-hued cassis cremeux and crispy white chocolate feuilletine between layers of classic chocolate Victoria sponge. Making the appeal of this cake grow tenfold more intriguing, it is also topped with edible decorative flowers.
Soft on the inside and tough on the outside, this treat is heaven for any sweet tooths out there that is a sucker for textures. The Caramel Banana Chocolate ($9) contains 46% milk chocolate cremeux and is topped with chopped walnuts for that crunch and soft caramelised bananas in a buttery vanilla tart shell. For a glossy finish, a thin layer of transparent jelly is drizzled over the top and is finished with violet-coloured petals.
A must try for anyone who loves a potent blend of sweet and sour, the Rhubarb Strawberry ($9) consists of strawberry mousse and tangy rhubarb strawberry compote drizzled with a pink mirror glaze, atop a vanilla tart base that is aromatic in every way. This treat can only be described as a dessert fit for a queen.
LUNA does not only serve cake, but they also deliver a variety of sweet treats. If you are not in the mood for cake, why not try this Strawberry Vanilla Panna Cotta ($9.50)? With alternating layers of creamy vanilla panna cotta and sweet strawberry cremeux in a tall serving glass, it is generously finished with crunchy granola and juicy sliced strawberries.
Apart from these exciting new collections, LUNA will also serve up their all-time classics: Orh Nee Cake ($8), Goma x PB ($9), Matcha Opera ($8.50) and LUNA 2.0 ($9). Have a quick tea break with a slice of Lemon or Orange Pound Cake ($7 each) or with a dainty Vanilla or Pistachio Madeleine ($2.50 each) for a delicious tea time break.
Available for the upcoming festive season, The Triple Chocolate Christmas Tree ($82) is a chocolate mousse cake that is great for sharing. With a base of almond sponge and crispy feuilletine, dark chocolate mousse takes on the base of the “tree” which is preceded by a sweet caramel milk chocolate mousse before having yogurt and cream cheese white chocolate at its peak.
For something smaller, the Sweet Celebrations Christmas set ($39) is a sharing set of 4 treats that comes with an Apricot Pear Bauble, Orange Cherry Pistachio, Hazelnut Paris-Brest and a Coffee Chestnut Tart. Pre-orders are now open for delivery or self-collection (at LUNA Amoy) from 5th to 31st December 2022.
In commemoration of the opening of LUNA’s second outlet, LUNA will be giving away a complimentary chocolate bon bon to each customer with every purchase of a sliced cake. The chocolate bon bons are not for sale yet and are only available as complimentary gifts preceding purchase.
