You can’t get enough of Japanese cuisine? We’re guessing your sushi game is strong if you’re a committed fan who enjoys ramen, omakase dining, shabu shabu, and teppanyaki.

Whether you’re craving hand-pressed nigiri or elegantly folded temaki, great sushi always hits the spot. On that note, here are several Japanese restaurants where you should definitely check out.

Hashida Singapore

Visit Hashida Singapore for a genuinely outstanding omakase experience. Enter the Shinto shrine and be whisked away to one of three private dining chambers for an unforgettable dining experience. Although Singapore has a plethora of omakase restaurants, your stomach will yearn for the cheerful rhythm of its omakase menu and the particular levity of its flavours.

The courses are mostly traditional in format, but chef-owner Kenjiro Hashida constantly alters the temperature of dishes, alternating hot and cold courses for a meal full of unexpected twists and turns.

Address: 77 Amoy St, Singapore 069896

Kinki Restaurant

Kinki Restaurant + Bar, tucked away in a historic structure in front of Singapore’s gorgeous Marina Bay beachfront, is an urban Japanese eatery with a punch. The eating experience here is edgy and sophisticated, having recently been updated with a bolder design and bolder flavours. On Saturdays and public holidays, the restaurant’s bottomless brunch begins at 12 p.m., featuring fresh sushi and sashimi, maki rolls, wagyu udon, ramen and more!

Address: 70 Collyer Quay, #02-02 Customs House, Singapore 049323

Wagatomo

If you are a fan of modern Japanese cooking, why not give Wagatomo a try? Chef Tomoyuki Kiga’s principle of serving only the best ingredients is sure to make you look forward to highlights such as their A5 Wagyu Pizza, Scampi Ochazuke, Pork Chop with yuzu miso glaze and more! They also have a rotational omakase set menu that brings out the best flavours of each season so you can expect only top notch quality and freshness from their ingredients when you dine here.

Address: Guoco Tower #01-12, 5 Wallich Street, Singapore 078883

Tokyo Soba

This small soba business may not look like much but it’s the kind of place you’d want to bring your buddies to. The tiny café has a limited number of seats (mainly two-seaters) and serves freshly prepared soba in both hot and cold varieties.

Noodles are created using 80 percent imported from Japan buckwheat flour and 20% ordinary flour for a silky, slurp-worthy texture. It goes well with everything from succulent pork cutlets to sweet corn fritters. The best thing is that a lunch here will set you back less than $20.

Address: 12 Gopeng St, #01-12/13/14 Icon Village, Singapore 078877

In Singapore, Japanese cuisine is by far the most popular, and there are plenty of options to choose from. If you are unsure of where to go, here are some of my suggestions for good Japanese cuisine.
