Jurong Bird Park is now a half-centenarian as they are celebrating 50 years since they opened in January 1971 at their Jurong location. Jurong Bird park will be moving to its new location soon in Mandai and will join the rest of the Wildlife Reserves in Singapore.
Here are some special reasons to visit the Jurong Bird Park before we must call it “Mandai Bird Park”.
See the Park’s Pioneer Bird in Action
Jurong Bird Park’s oldest Cockatoo, Big John, is slated to make appearances at the special 50th Anniversary Edition of the High-Flyers Show of the park. Do catch him at the show as he shows you that age is just a number even in the bird’s world.
Be Like Lady Gaga and Step Out of an Egg
An egg-shaped portal will be placed at the front of the park for visitors to be transported back to the past to have a look at some of the park’s greatest moments. You can even submit your own Jurong Bird Park memories with the hashtag #JBP50 to get a chance to have your memory featured in the portal!
Jurong Bird Park x Precious Moments
Making sure that you can bring a piece of the park back with you, Jurong Bird Park has partnered with Precious moments to produce a limited-edition figurine featuring a park keeper and her scarlet macaw, a nod to the iconic macaws featured in the ever-famous High Flyers show in the park.
Pink Flamingo GO!
Get a chance to foster your very own flamingo. Park visitors will have the opportunity to symbolically foster one of these beautiful animals by donating $50 to the Foster A Flamingo programme. This programme will use the proceeds to fund Wildlife Reserve Singapore’s animal care and conservation methods. Each contribution will come with an adoption e-certificate and a voucher to redeem your very own flamingo key ring.
The move to Mandai has already started and our feathered friends will be joining the rest of the reserves in Singapore to create 1 big mega nature reserve. The new bird park will have 17 hectares of forest with a special bonus of interactive exhibits where birds get to roam freely.
