Komala Vilas
Komala Vilas, which has been open since 1947 and has branches on Race Course, Buffalo, and Serangoon Roads, is a simple but effective option. Everything is vegetarian and served in large sets on metal trays, giving it a communal dining ambiance. The veggie biryani set ($7), which includes chapati, papadum, saffron rice, veggie curry, daal, raita, and a variety of pickles and sauces is a must try.

Zaffron Kitchen
With its children’s play area, Zaffron Kitchen’s East Coast Road location has a ‘family restaurant’ ambiance, whereas its Westgate location is a little more modern and sophisticated. The food, on the other hand, is consistently good at both locations. The dum chicken briyani ($14.50) comes in a bowl packed with dough, which you must crack open to unveil the delectable saffron-laced aroma of dum-cooked rice and curried chicken. Instead of going for the hefty stews and dals, you can try the chicken tikka wrap ($14) – naan-wrapped chicken kebabs accompanied with chutney and fries. It’s an excellent grab-and-go dinner.

Urban Roti
Urban Roti is Lau Pa Sat Festival Market’s swankiest destination for curries and kebabs, and its excellence is backed up by its lunchtime regulars. The smokey chicken kebabs here are superb, and we recommend the green chilli laced one ($16) for its kick. It also serves inventive fusion dishes like the Cuba Libre Kebab ($18), which features chicken marinated in rum. There’s also a bar with a wide selection of wines, spirits, cocktails, and beer for those after work happy hours.

Mustard
Mustard is an excellent place to start if you’ve never had Bengali food before. The mustard oil and paste-laced meals from Bengal’s Coastal state have an authentic flavor and a diverse menu. Start with the chingri macher malai curry ($24.10), which consists of coconut curried prawns served within a green coconut, and a slice of the macher paturi ($21.10), which is a boneless filet marinated in mustard paste and then wrapped in a banana leaf to steam cook.

Rang Mahal
This is not your usual Indian restaurant as the interior is filled with polished stonework and glass, mood lighting, and high-end finishes. However, the aroma of lingering spices, as well as the tables piled high with curries and lassis, give the game away. Its menu features upscale Indian street food, hearty share platters, and a few dramatic items. The tandoori fondue ($58) is the most remarkable dish we recommend you try. This dish comes with a buttery tomato sauce, five varieties of cheese, as well as a choice of flavourful chicken kebabs and cubed garlic naan as dippers.

Here are a few Indian restaurants that I recommend you should visit with your friends, family, or special someone. Indulge in some delicious and fresh Indian food that your stomachs will greatly appreciate.
