It has been a while since I attended a dance class, be it on campus or outside. I miss the vibe that everyone lets out during physical dance classes. It hypes me up and give me confidence when it is my time to showcase the dance routine.

Due to the pandemic, limited number of people can be in one dance studio. This also means that there are lesser booking slots available. As a member of my dance family, Style Groovaz Crew, my fellow dance members and I are often invited back to the studio for any classes. However, classes have shifted online via Zoom.

Despite that, my love for dance will continue to grow and I am always willing to improve as a dancer. Thus, I am looking for online dance classes to involve myself in. Let’s look at some of the online dance classes available!

STEEZY Studios

Want to learn a wide range of dance genres? STEEZY Studios has you covered. It has several programmes to help you familiarise yourself with the types of dance genres. New to dance? Do not worry as there are three different levels – beginner, intermediate and advance.

You can definitely choose a higher level of difficulty as you progress. Let’s talk genres. STEEZY comprises of dance tutorials from different dance genres. These genres include Jazz Funk, Whacking, House, Lite Feet, and more. Furthermore, these dance tutorials are conducted by professional dancers from well-known dance crews, sharing their knowledge based on the genre they specialise in.

Some of these dancers include Jojo Diggs from Jabbawockeez, teaching House, Kiira Harper who have worked with famous artists such as Rihanna and Lizzo, and Krump Champion of the World, Sherwin Salonga.

The STEEZY app is available on both Play Store and App Store.

Subscription fees:

Apart from that, it also offers premium dance courses for you to learn faster and eventually, you will be dancing without having any doubt of not being good enough. These dance courses range from 7 days courses to a compilation of tutorial videos.

These online dance courses are available for both streaming and downloads. Grab a friend or two and learn as much as you can with the help of these dance classes.

Learn from Your Favourite Choreographers on YouTube

The easiest way to learn a choreography is by searching it on YouTube. As we all know, YouTube is a free video streaming platform. Thus, dance tutorial videos can easily be found. You can learn from dancer and choreographers such as Matt Steffanina, Kyle Hanagami, and Miles Keeney.

This is actually of my favourite ways to learn a choreography. I can pause, rewind and reduce the speed of the video. This has definitely made it easier for me to see how the steps are done and understand which muscles I am supposed to engage when learning the choreography.

The pandemic has definitely stopped us from doing some of our favourite things. However, the internet is one of the most helpful platforms for us to keep ourselves engaged in physical activities. With the help of online telecommunication platforms such as Zoom, anything is possible.

Share these with your friends and learn a new choreography together. If you are new to dance, even better. Use this time to adopt a new hobby or just have a little fun!
