I fell in love with the art of henna when I was a small girl. My aunt would always apply henna on my hands as she was a certified henna artist. I was her main supporter and would go into her room and ask her to design my hands with henna. It is just so beautiful how intricate and clean her designs were. She has then stopped doing henna and I guess I am continuing it for her.
I started my own henna service in 2018 for my family and friends during Ramadan as we got ready for Hari Raya Aidilfitri. My friends would direct message me on Instagram and ask me to do their henna. I would order cones from other henna artists as they would make their own henna cones.
How I Came Across Hennaflair
I recently stumbled upon Hennaflair, owned by Azzah Atifah, on Tiktok and noticed that she was actually friends with another friend of mine. I quickly went over to Instagram, followed her and was inspired by how she was able to expand her business.
Hennaflair had a henna booth last Ramadan, and she is also offering bridal henna packages for her clients. For those who are interested to learn the fundamentals of henna, she is also holding private and group henna workshops as well!
Her content was flooding my TikTok For You Page and I could not help it but like almost every video. She is such a talented individual and has gained so much support from her friends, families, and others.
Natural Henna Cones
I have been tempted to order cones from her and finally made up my mind and ordered three natural henna cones and one jagua gel cone. The cones arrived within a week and was definitely worth the wait.
I got extremely excited to try them out and I was immediately in love with how smooth the paste came out from the cone. It did not require much force to get it out and that is a plus point.
After 48 hours upon removal, the deep brown stain was extremely beautiful on my skin. I then applied it only my friend’s backhand. The cone was really easy to work with and I was able to create a simple design.
Jagua Gel Cone
This is actually my first time applying Jagua gel on my skin. All my friends were telling me how beautiful Jagua gel stain was, almost like a tattoo. Once applied, the gel will start to stain. Therefore, it is best to avoid fixing any mistakes.
I did a patch test prior to ensure that the gel works on my skin without causing itchiness or rash. Thankfully, my skin did not have any bad reaction. I was really excited to see how this would turn out. When I started applying the gel onto my skin, I realised that the consistency is very different from natural henna.
As the name suggest, it appears and applies more like a gel that a thick and smooth paste. I did have difficulty trying to control the pressure used to get the gel out. Using this definitely takes practice. However, I did not give up and managed to illustrate a design on my backhand.
After washing it off and waiting for at least 24 to 48 hours, I was in love with the colour of the stain. It creates a blue-black stain on my backhand that is pretty similar to the colour of tattoos. I am so in love with the cone.
Hennaflair cones are by far the best henna cones I have worked with and will definitely order them again. Head over to Hennaflair’s Instagram and TikTok account to view all the beautiful designs she has created. Also, do purchase these cones too as they are absolutely amazing!
